In 4th grade we got to tour through Tiger Stadium and parts of LSU campus. Met some people, that's one that stands out.

4H and FFA
On a Field trip to the farm
Me 'n' a friend sneak off behind
This big old barn where we uncovered a covered-up moonshine still
And we thought we'd drink our fill
And I swallered it with a smile
Bllll-bbbb, I run ten miles
Chug a lug

6th grade trip to Washington DC
We won a national GeoBear competition and got a private tour of the White House and was on the TODAY show. We were supposed to meet Clinton, but something came up, so we met Madeline Albright instead. We still got a privately catered lunch at the White House. Pretty damn cool.

Monterey Bay. Got to see seals, otters, and bums asking if we were going to eat all of our lunches.

My grade went to the city sewage treatment facility in 4th grade. Most fricked up thing I've ever seen in my life. Kids vomiting everywhere. The smell was so horrendous. Pools of shite. Awful just awful.
Edit: wasn't the best but most memorable for sure.

5th grade. NASA space center in Houston. That trip was a big reason why I became an aeronautical engineer.

Our 4th grade teacher took us to the Calcasieu Parish Jail and told us if we didn't pay attention in her class, that's was where we would end up.

Hour trip to six flags Georgia in 6th grade.

I'd rather not link it, but search YouTube for "field trip", along with the name of a certain substance, used as textile fiber and thread for sewing, that is often harvested in the South (I can't mention it as it got me banned for a month last time)

5th grade -- Angola State Prison. Not even kidding.
May not be the best, but I sure as hell never ended up in jail so it was a success.

6th grade class trip to the French Quarter. Our chaperone wasn't supposed to take the four of us onto Bourbon Street, but she did anyway.

Maybe not best, but kinda strange coincidence. 10th grade toured a chemiccal plant, 20 years later I got a job there.
Best was probably Hunt's and St. Gabriel prison. Every other senior class go to go to Angola, but that year the prison had some bad flooding so they moved the field trip.

I don't know if it qualifies as a "kid" trip, but in 10th grade we went on a three day outing to the Red Stone Arsenal in Huntsville. Awesome trip. Nothing like seeing a Saturn rocket up close.

U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville Al in 6th grade. Plenty of good local trips too. In 7th grade we visited a prison then went looking for arrow heads, where a classmate found a badass fish hook make of bone or antler.
