I'd feel naked without my G string

I usually just get the D'Addario Nickelwound. But it doesn't really matter much to me as far as brand.

I like D'addarios normally. Sometimes Ernie Ball Slinky of various types depending if I'm using a different tuning - they have a lot of variety. If you want your strings to last a while, Elixir.

I play a Gibson Firebird V 2010 and I use Dean Markley .012-.056 gauge sets with a wound G. I love my baby.

Of all the things that can affect your tone, string brand is probably the last.
I used GHS Boomers for years. Switched to DR pure nickel strings about six months ago. I had heard pure nickel strings cut down slightly on the treble end and last longer.
I don't know that they actually cut down on the treble, but they certainly last longer (wipe them down every day with Fast Fret), so i'm willing to pay a little extra for them.

I have a Strat and the Fender strings sound great.
Ernie Ball would be my second choice.
