First it was a shot at peach pumpkin ale in a Super Bowl commercial, that ran just days after AB-InBev purchased craft brewery Elysian. A brewery that actually brewed a peach pumpkin ale they called out in the multi-millon dollar commercial spot.
Today, the shite-talking marketing team at Anheuser-Busch is targeting watermelon wheat. As you can imagine, 21st Amendment, and their many fans, have taken offense.
While it’s not a Super Bowl spot, it looks like the marketing dollars are paying off. Everyone is talking about it right?
Just check the replies to 21A on Twitter…

they will just buy another craft brewery

I don't think anyone cheers for the buy that brings Budweiser either
but craft breweries also need to stop being so goddamn sensitive about these marketing campaigns

Meh, i understand it. You have bud, who's been battling you every second of the day to keep their market share. Then they decide to go the other tactic and buy up craft breweries, and simultaneously they are going to trash those same breweries they are so desperate to buy?

Owners are probably hoping they get bought out like Elysian did.

I agree but I really hope a few of the bigger breweries (firestone, stone, SN, ect) get together and buy a super bowl ad.
Nothing more American then some old fashion free market capitalism.

i'm not blaming them for selling either. Nor am I blaming bud for buying up the breweries. It's just hypocritical on Bud's part.

Not to the people that still equate 'Merica with Bud...Even though the only connection is a flag on the cans

It also validates what many people know already that craft beer is a threat to them
The odd thing is in the past it was Natty/pbr/busch was cheap drinkers. Bud was for people willing shell out the extra buck, now they are all lumped together in what crap pool.

Responses to the marketing campaign
1. Beer drinkers who think craft beer "mavens" are fruity, pretentious, nerds, like the campaign and buy more Budweiser because of it.
2. Craft beer guys think large production beer is for society's losers, rednecks, and "poors". The advertising makes them more ardent in their want for craft beer (which Budweiser unknowingly owns)
Result - InBev profits either way

I made a watermelon wheat last year that was lethal. Came out about 11% and couldn't taste it.

I mean....do you realize how dumb they look?
Calling out people for making sissy shite when they are the same company churning out peach-a-rita or whatever the hell they are on now

I'll drink a Watermelon Wheat anyway over Bud Lite.
