Youngest age of a child you'd bring to a funeral?

Not talking about unaware babies or toddlers.
Obviously funeral would have to be of someone fairly close to even consider any kid there.
What age do you start to contemplate it?

Depends on who died tbh.
If it was their close relative I'd bring a 2 or 3 year old most likely.

If it's someone close enough to my family, I'd probably bring a child of any age and just handle any situation as the happen.

Funderal is ok. The wake is a different story. My mom took me to a wake for her dead aunt when I was 4 or 5. All I remember is some woman screaming her head off...must've been her mom that passed.
Long story short....I hate wakes!

I went to my grandpas funeral when I was 5. I just thought he was sleeping until I jammed my fingers in his mouth and it was dry. Then I lost it.

These are the people who shouldn't go to funerals/wakes...unless a young child or teen died

My daughter was 4 when she went to my mother's memorial service, but there was no casket. I'm not sure if I'd want a kid younger than 8 to actually view a body up close. "Prepared" dead bodies for open casket services usually don't look much like the live person. Also depends on the maturity of the kid.

MOTHERfrickER!
What the frick is it with the OT's obsession with dead children lately?! Y'all motherfrickers are morbid as hell. frick this topic.
Edit: Read it wrong. I'm dumb. Still stand by my comment though

My step-son was 3.
It was his father's funeral.

My Great Grandmother passed a way quite a few years ago and I remember my little cousin being 4 or 5 and seeing her in the casket for the first time. He looked at her and asked when she was going to get up from her nap

This. Death is part of life. I don't shield my kids from it and my parents didn't shield me. That said, I'm referring to someone the child was close with. I wouldn't take them to the funeral of a coworker or friendly acquaintance.

Any age....even babies. The crying usually fits in perfectly

When i was little my folks went "to look at the body" of my stepgrandma. I thought they were sickoes going to look at her naked. Years later i realized it was a wake they went to. Anyway i guess things werent explained to me well.

'm with you. I avoided the OT for two days while that "grieving a dead child" thread was up. Can't even stand to think of that shite.

I think she wouldn't matter to me quite as much as the child's grasp on death and loss and how close they were to the deceased individual. Don't bring them somewhere like that when they don't understand what death even is and especially if they barely knew the person like you already stated.

Not really an age so much as whether or not the kid can be still and shut up for an hour.
