Maybe but I'm pretty skeptical. I could believe the first blast, but the point blank standing over him blast would have penetrated his skin. Rubber bullets aren't nerf dots.

Yes me too. It's only 5 more episodes so no big loss if it sucks.

Yeh Reauxl I'm with you. I will finish it. But in honesty I'm only doing so out of hope and respect for season 1

Would Tim Riggins really hang out with this guy if he was trying to forget a gay night in Afghanistan with him? Seems more likely those two killed a bunch of people (some good some bad) and that is what he is trying to forget. Going to therapy for a year, as part of some post traumatic treatment. Then his friend asking if he ever thought about doing it again...he could have meant killing.

I read it before this episode and it's been confirmed by many website reviews, who saw the first three episodes that Woodrugh had a three day gay fling with that guy.

Watching this episode, was like pulling teeth.

I'm so confused. Am I supposed to care about anyone on this show? Am I supposed to want a resolution for any of the characters?

This episode was the best of this season. But that's like crowning king turd. I'm going to finish this season but its sucking hard. There is some chemistry between McAdams and Ferrell if they will work together and mislead their bosses while they solve the murders. Riggins is just there. He serves very little purpose as a character. He could get killed off soon and it wouldn't matter. Which actually may happen since it won't matter.

The scene at the mayors house was probably the low point of the whole show, the characters, writing, execution was awful.

It is all style and no substance
They REALLY miss Cary Fukunaga's directing
VV does not do vulnerable tough guy very well
Farrell has been excellent
Mcadams is ok but in the scene with the sheriff deputy it looked like she was suppressing laughter. She just isn't "fricked up" enough for the character
Kitsch has been awful. He needs to stay in his hero lane and stop doing this brooding bull shite. He was so bad in the club scene it looked like he was about to have a panic attack

quote:Yea, that was pretty clear, IMO. He couldn't look the gay hooker in the eye and felt super uncomfortable around gay people. He even asked that one guy at the club "You sleep with women?". As if he was surprised that a gay man could. He's totally insecure and homophobic.
Dude is gay.
This "let's make the audience think a main character is dead, then make it turn out to be rubber bullets" nonsense is fricking cheap as hell. I thought True Detective would be above these cheap shenanigans. fricking stupid.
Anyway, I do think there are some decent ideas in the show this season and I'm in till the end, but I don't expect much. Hopefully an interesting mystery can save this season. I just hope it unfolds better than last season. The characters in this season are not strong enough to carry the show this time around. I guess we'll see.

i thought that was part of what his character was going through. but i dont know what his character's motivation is for any of this. all i know is the guy just wants to be a motorcycle cop. i have no idea why he's doing any of this other shite

Whether or not you think he pulled it off well or believable is another thing. I thought it was a little hollow myself.

I watched all 3 episodes consecutively tonight. It's just bad. Nothing much else to say. Everything is so forced and heavy-handed. The Semyon plot is a pure ripoff of Long Good Friday. Look it up and tell me it's not.
I got downvoted into oblivion in one of the threads for premature predictions, but every reservation I had regarding this season has manifested itself in a grotesque way. It's worse than I thought. Every lead wants to be Rust. Trying way too hard and the writing is just consistently below average. Don't know if I'll finish this one out. The pacing is just horrid.
Anyone trying to defend this is suffering from cognitive dissonance. This even makes episodes 6-8 from last season look good.
It's no secret how long Pizzolatto had been formulating Season 1. He had been writing and concocting and scheming that plot for years in his head, I'm sure. You can't expect someone to write every episode in a few months and expect it to be good. I see why he was cautious about doing a second season.
Wouldn't be surprised if this series gets the axe.

Farrell is the only one who belongs. McAdams is trying too hard and Kitsch just seems pointless.

I get what kitsch was going for but he was so bad it came across all wrong and felt hollow

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, in particular Vaughn finally being able to cut loose.(although I waiting him to go completely unhinged.)
I'll bet Woodrough went home with both of those boys that night.
McAdams and Ferrell have decent chemistry.
This season will surprised some people by the end. I'm starting to really dig it.

Oh yeah he is 100% gay, but he can't accept it and he is homophobic because he resents how the other gays he sees are quite comfortable with who they are.
Yeah this episode was the best but like the other poster said, it's king turd country. I will see it through but it's like they are solving a mystery that I just don't care about.
Needs more comic relief badly.
And every time they show Vince Vaughn I cringe. That fight was so cheesy. And I like Vince Vaughn a lot and I think he'd be cool to chill with but this role is not right for him.
ETA: I do like the bird mask thing, it's the only thing I find creepy this season.
