Netgear R7000 router issues. HELP!!!

I finally got my cox internet issues fixed today, but now my damn router has decided to go batshit crazy.
I've even tried a factory reset, but I still can't get my computer to connect to it. Mainly, it never wants to recognize the lan connection, and never really did.
The wireless won't authenticate now.
Had it for a year or two.
If I bypass it and go directly from modem to computer, I have internet.

Is the router configured to have the modem as the default gateway?

I can't even get into it anymore. But why would anything have changed from when it was working fine last week?
To answer your question, idk.

Just got off the phone with net gear tech support. What a scam.
Seems like the hardware is working but I need a firmware update.
Anyone know how to do that from modem to computer to router?

First download the firmware file from here -
LINK
You do this by connecting your laptop/desktop directly to the modem over Ethernet Cable. You may have to reboot your modem to get a IP address on your laptop/desktop and connect to the Internet.
I am guessing you are looking for -
Firmware Version 1.0.4.30
Once you are done downloading, detach the Ethernet cable from the modem, and connect it to a LAN port on the router. At this time, your modem is disconnected from all the stuff - only your laptop and router are connected to each other using a network cable.
Go to your router's admin webpage using a web browzer (You should find the exact IP address etc. on the router's manual), but you can also find it from network panel on your laptop. Navigate to the firmware update tab and upload the file you just downloaded. If everything goes well, your router should reboot with the new f/w. Do not try f/w updates over WiFi, but only over wired.
