Both times I fished the guadalupe I waded. Much of the access is private, but I just paid a tubing outfits $5 and started walking.

Which hull are going with? I'm going to sell my whipray pretty soon, considering ordering a tiller caimen.

I was between the Fury and the EVO for about a month. After finally checking out an EVO in person, I decided on the Fury. If I didn't run as much big water I would've looked more seriously at their lighter boats.

The fury is a nice hull. A friend of mine guides out of one and we have taken it out to the chandeleur islands multiple time. A lot of tapron fishing off the beach as well. You will be happy with that boat, it does most things very well.

Is it considered a flats boat?
With me possibly moving to FL in the next year or so I've been looking at different flats vs bay boats. Seems like most people say that you can't pole a bay boat. For chasing shallow water fish with a fly rod do I need to be able to pole? Can I not just use a trolling motor? It would need to have some family type use

Where does he live? It's possible we have some of the same friends.

I would consider East Cape's Vantage a flats boat and the EVO more of a hybrid. The Vantage doesn't pole as well as the other hulls do, but it makes up for that in other areas. The Vantage was a little big for me though.
People will tell you different things, but I stay on my trolling motor when I'm by myself, and I don't spook fish. I run pretty low and slow though. If you've got friends that are into the same type of fishing as you, then poling is obviously much more stealthy. You've got to have friends that are willing to spend some time up poling, and friends that actually know how to pole haha. It's also pretty easy to pole and fish from the back at the same time once you get the hang of it.

The Vantage is a beast, great for hauling arse but poling one sucks. I think if I still did the whole Biloxi Marsh thing I would own Fury or maybe even try to get away with the Lostman. I just don't do that kind of fishing anymore unless I go with someone else. i like little boats like Glades Skiffs and Glides. I know a guy with an stripped down rolled gunnel Ankona and that goddamn thing is unstickable. Not the pretties thing in the world but we once picked it up and dragged it across land.

Just looked at prices on these boats yall are talking about....HOLY shite that's a lot of money for a small boat. Saw a brand new Beavertail launching in Dulac a couple weeks ago. My God it was a beautiful boat.

You get a lot of boat for the money with East Cape. Same for BT. They are also built to order so price sheets are constantly changing. You can pick and choose your options are the boat is being built. If I remember correctly East Cape offers a lifetime composite warranty.
If you really want to make yourself sick to your stomach, look at HB, Chittum, and Egret prices.

I'm having a very difficult time keeping myself talked out of buying a black boat.

You buying a new one? What motor are you going with?

Black looks cool but it shows every single nick, scratch, water spot, and speck of road dirt. If you never drag over oysters, then go for it.

Yep. I'm putting a 90 Yamaha on it. The main thing pushing me towards the EVO was the fact that I could've put the 115 SHO on it haha.
@Barf, that's my problem. It looks super clean, but I don't feel like putting the time into it making it look nice. As it sits now, I'm going with a lighter blue base and beige/cream top/awlgrip.

The Beavertail 16BT really has my eye

The EVO I looked at was light grey. It's a really good looking color.

The micro is a good little boat. There is one in BR with a tiller 30hp e-tec.
If you're looking at the BT Micro, do youself a favor and give the guys over at Cayo boatworks a call and check out their 173.
