but manually shifting them is not.
Agreed, I still use the paddle shits all the time.

No lift shift? I will not be trying that with either of my manual vehicles. Extreme vehicles, race or rock crawlers, maybe more suited for dual clutch or traditional autos but normal vehicles are way more fun in manuals. Going from a manual sedan to a manual 4wd truck is like speaking two different languages. The mechanics are similar but the nuances couldn't be more different.

I saw the new Roush Mustangs when I got the truck serviced last week. Pretty sweet.

I have it with my manual and it actually works really good. I was scared to death the first time I tried it though.

Yea, Roush does some nice stuff. A few weeks ago, I ran into a guy with a car that was same the colors as mine, but it was a Roush Stage 3. 575 supercharged HP. He told me nice car

I yank up the E brake every time I shut off my rental cars out of habit, and even watch the ground as I step out to make sure the car isn't rolling.

What do you drive? I just researched it for mine and got a good laugh. Apparently people troll the boards asking about it. People call it a power shift and absolutely recommend against it if you want the vehicle to last.

I've been seeing evidence that the manual might not be dying as much as we thought. It could and probably will become a bit more common and stick around as a limited edition/specialty option in sports cars and exotics. One of the 29 6-speed Ferrari 599 GTBs ever made recently sold for over half a million dollars just because of that little lever and gated metal maze in the middle of the car.

If the car still gives me full control of the gears with the press of button without a clutch, I'm all for it.
"Full control" in my opinion includes a clutch pedal. It sounds like you just want control of what gear you're in. That's all the new autos and paddle gearboxes give you. I will not argue that they don't shift quicker than any human in a manual but I will strongly disagree that you have full control without a clutch pedal.

Even all the new manuals come with rev matching, no lift shift, and other features that improve the performance and experience, all while reducing driver involvement.
I do agree with this though.
