I say you should only use Louisiana Purchase cards for Louisiana products. Zatarains, Bluerunner, various dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, even Zapps. Food stamps might then help out the state's economy.

I went to walmart a few weeks ago (it was around the first of the month) and some lady had 2 carts full of steaks and snow crab legs
you wouldn't believe how pissed she was that she couldn't buy cigarettes with food stamps

With the card used only for Louisiana products, it may even create a few jobs due to increased sales. The name would even be more appropriate imo as well.

How the hell did I leave off seafood?

One of the Asian owned stores I call on every week boils crawfish and sells them by the pound, and lets them use the LA purchase card for it, I've seen it personally ....... I'm sure that wouldn't be considered fraud though, would it?

Say that to all the folks here that happen to come across that one woman who has an iPhone and follow her to her Camaro in the parking lot.
The OT and Political Board have worn this story out that it has facebook post written all over it.
It's not a story if it really happens. I really did see a lady at the Dollar store the other day use an EBT card then proceed to walk out to her newer loaded out Yukon.
FWIW she was white.

That's what it's there for though and it works great as a temporary fix. It's not there be a way of life which is the complaint many have about it.

They can buy pretty much any edible things they want, with the exception being liquor. When they want liquor, they go to a store that'll ring it up as food and sell them the liquor. If they don't do that, they'll just buy the cigs and booze with the cash they get twice a month
It is rife with fraud and abuse, and the way it is set up now allows them to basically buy anything they want. Think of it as like a free, limited money, debit card to buy whatever they want. If they want $300 worth of sweet tarts and grape drink, they can buy them.

The facts in this matter are irrelevant. Food stamps could be the most successful or most fraudulent program available and it wouldn't matter. The federal government should not have the right to redistribute wealth at the point of a gun under any circumstances. Feeding the hungry is a very noble and important cause but it cannot be legislated it should be privatized.

OK, read all of that. Which part is supposed to make me appreciate this program more?
