Michael Papierski

Man - this guy really looked good last night. He's got a certain "presence" behind the plate. Love the way he works. Good frame. 1-1 at the plate.
Mainieri: "The thing that jumps out to you immediately when seeing Michael Papierski is that he looks like a big league catcher. From the body, the actions, and the way he plays the game, Michael is the total package. He’s a 6”3” switch-hitting catcher that shows an outstanding arm from behind the plate. Honestly, his game reminds me a lot of Micah Gibbs, with perhaps a little bit better arm from behind the plate. He’s already emerged as the leader of the freshmen class during the strength and conditioning workouts this summer. He’s worked hard and pushed others - which is an important attribute that you would like to see from your catcher. He can be one of the all-time greats at LSU when his career here is done."

He's going to be good. I honestly thought he'd end up starting over Scivicque by season's end. Never could have foreseen kade having an all American season

There's something you don't see every day.

I'd like to see his defense improve. Maybe it's just that Kade makes it look so easy, but there is a big dropoff when Pap goes in.
Hasn't shown much in the way of hitting, but he hasn't had much opportunity either. His practice sessions are probably more indicative of his hitting ability then his in-game plate appearances.
After hearing CPM's praise I was surprised at how unready Pap was this year. But if CPM hadn't said all of that I'd be pleased with his prospects.

Compare the three top catchers on LSU's team, Scivique, Paps, and Chinea, to Arkansas' starter. With all due respect, their catcher looked like an 8th grader.

His home run against UNO last week was nice to see that power, get him in the weight room and summer ball and he will be solid next year

Papierski will go down as one of that all time best by the time he is done. He has superstar potential written all over him.

Our persistent hitting pressure on the pitcher and our persistent base running on the bases had a lot to do with that.

He about shite his pants on a curveball last night. He flinched and turned his whole body and missed the ball. It was a sick pitch, but it was funny to see a college catcher react that way. He's a good ball player and will make a big impact next year.

Going to be nice to have him catch for Latz

Everybody missed that pitch.
It was a strike but since Paps acted the way he did, the ump called it a ball.

The C that reclassified and will enroll a year ahead of time, January will have his work cut out to win that job
He will end up like Barash
If you are a high school baseball player why skip the draft makes no sense

Yes, he was clearly intimidated by LSU's speed, but physically, the guy didn't look ready for college.
He didn't throw well. He didn't block well. And he was 1-4 batting in the 9-hole. He's listed as 180 lbs at 5-10", and that looked like a generous estimate.

Thinking you're getting a fastball will do that to you

I think most catchers would have looked the exact same way if they call for a fastball and the pitcher throws the "deuce".
I laughed a little though.
