Has anyone ever seen a vehicle with drum and disc brakes on a the same axle? I ran into it this and was a little puzzled on how to proceed. I ended up not changing the drum brakes.

Could the drums be only for the parking brake?

Yep, that's a nissan thing. Immediately reminded me of the 300ZX.
small drum brake built into the inside of a disc brake to act as the E-Brake.

You mean drum on one side and disc on the other?

are drum brakes still being used on regular automobiles?
back in the day, i worked at an auto parts place and i used to turn drums & rotors on the brake lathe. i was never taught properly how to do it, so there's no telling how many deaths i caused due to faulty brakes.
