I'm not pretending, Broseph Gordon-Levitt. I am a metal enthusiast and a headbanger through and through.

I am also well-aware of Ministry's musical impact and their reputation during the grindcore and post-thrash scene.

Plus, I am fully aware of every metal subgenre. So you can cut out the argument that just because metal is included in the label for the musical genre then such music automatically can qualify as "pure metal" as you put it.

"Pure metal", heavy metal, would adhere more to the sounds of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Judas Priest. The implementation of electronic tracks, drum machines, New Wave influences, etc., causes industrial metal bands to vastly distance themselves from their metal brethren.

I never said Ministry wasn't a good band, but considering your whole spiel regarding death metal and "pure metal", it seems pretty ridiculous that you would choose to defend that sort of band.

"How the frick?" and "extreme metal"?

Are you implying that "extreme metal" is some conjured up, arbitrary label that I just spouted out? Are you implying that it isn't a categorization of numerous subgenres (e.g. black metal, death metal, grindcore, etc.) which emerged during the post-thrash scene and exaggerates the speed and brutality of thrash by implementing darker or more "extreme" elements such as blast beats, guttural vocals, blasphemous lyrics, grotesque imagery, etc.?

If I listed this topic on the OT, I would expect such bitter, dickless comments from someone, but this is a place where thankfully 95 percent of what we post is usually argued but respected.

I apologize for the initial hostility but I just couldn't get over how anyone would list Helmet among their five most influential metal albums.

Define what "pure" metal is...You are taking what I said waaaaaaayyyyyyy out of context. It's not a type of metal, idiot.

No shite, Sherlock. My question to you is why did you even use that term? And yes, for many metalheads there is a specific concept of pure metal which relates to the sounds forged by the first wave of bands.

quote:

Helmet is an alternative metal band from New York City formed in 1989. They released Meantime (their ...)...this under their own Youtube video.

Again, I know who Helmet is. They are a hard alternative band if anything. Their metal status is questionable in the manner that early Tool's sound was.

You're missing the point, a-hole. And that's what you are -- an a-hole. I listed the 5 METAL albums (not bands) that inspired me. NOT YOU. Thanks for adding YOUR own bullshite.

It seems we struck a nerve.

You're the guy who name-drops for the sake of name-dropping at gatherings aren't you? Extreme Metal is barely even a label. It's a label to label several other labels. It's just like saying "hard rock" or "90's ALternative" as it's somewhat vague. I was more taken aback by your need to use the word "frick" over a silly poll that I started.

Spiel, huh? Okay.

Because I was barely a teenager when I was given the album. Ever hear all those heavy rock stars talk about KISS and Deep Purple and Sweet and Sabbath and Cooper as their influences? This was my gateway into metal. It's preference, a-hole.

a-hole, you did...only because you had a nerve struck. I know your type. You must know more than the other person in the room or you throw a shite fit. That's how I once acted about LSU sports. a-hole.

The whole "pure" thing...get over it as you are taking it way out of context. "Pure" is an adjective to describe cleaner metal. While I like Ministry and Slayer, the former is Industrial rooted and the latter is Thrash-oriented. I also like I said it. I do not like the grindstuff that you mentioned, overall. Still, I have the right to say I like one particular album for one various reason or another. It makes sense. I do not like death metal, either. I like the hard rock/heavy metal. Both Ministry and Helmet have albums/songs that fit that bill. a-hole. BUT "pure" is an adjective. There is no section in a record store that says "pure" as it was merely my way of saying that I am lesser into the HEAVY HEAVY bands. BUT since I stood in a pit once at a Slayer/Sepultura show in '96, I like to think I am heavy...but I am sure you started all of the pits at all of the concerts.
