Christ. I'm not just talking about any pick. This is a Bryce Petty thread. If they think that drafting Bryce Petty at 31 is the right move, I trust their judgement because they know the implications of that pick.

I'll go on record and say if he is there at 31, draft him.
Brees is not getting any younger and I like what I saw from Petty in college the last two years.
I also think 2-3 years of grooming in our system will pay dividends down the road.

I saw this, and I can care less. This is only relevant when you expect the player to start in first year or two. If the QB has all the right tools and is a dedicated worker, then you take him. His college system becomes an afterthought.
If Paeyton does only one thing well, it's develop QBs. If they draft Petty, it's because they believe he has all these tools and will be perfect fit for the system along with being easy to develop.

Caught the tail end, but I'm pretty sure McShay just said Payton can't develop QB's

Both of those thumb nail pics look like Romo

Yup. He made Romo an UDFA to a legit starter, even though he is a flawed QB. He also made Kerry Collins a good player in NY. He elevated Brees from good to elite. How many coaches can claim this? It's ridiculous to claim he isn't good at developing QBs

Payton left Dallas in 05. Romo took over in 06. So I'd say Payton had a little bit to do with Romo's emergence. But I don't think it's really fair to say that he can't develop QB's. He hasn't really had much of a chance.

I'm not disagreeing with you. When I think of "develop," I think of taking a player from the ground up and working with them. That was Romo.
Collins was decent. Drew was already a pro-bowl QB taken to an elite level. I don't know how many QB's he has to develop for McShay to consider him "good."

I knew you were agreeing, but I was correcting you saying he hasn't had much of a chance. I get what you are saying now. Developing though is more than just from the ground up. It's also taken lost causes (Collins) and making them good as well as good players (Brees) and making them elite.
McShay is an ignorant douche
