Probably top 3 games of all time. I haven't played it for years. Going to get a joystick soon. Can't wait.

Is it controller compatible?

Joystick is required. I don't think a controller counts. It just got put on steam.

So I googled it, and "partial controller support" means you can use a controller in certain parts of the game, but you'll be required to go back to kb/m or, in this case, a joystick, at some point.
Although reading the forums, some people are saying that they were able to play a lot of games that claim to be partial using ONLY a controller. I just looked up Arkham City and it says partial, but I've never used anything else.

Great game! I still have my original discs, though I bet they'd be a bit of a hassle to get working now.
Of all the Star Wars flight sims, Tie-Fighter is still probably my favorite, though. I wish an updated version of that would get released on Steam.

I never played these. were they before or after the rogue squadron games?

Then X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter came out in 1997 but is more focused on multiplayer. I don't think there is much of a story to it like the previous games in the series, but I never played it.
The first Rogue Squadron game came out in 1998, and then X-Wing Alliance came out in 1999. It's in the same vein as X-Wing and Tie-Fighter, with a single player story.
If you haven't played one before, just be aware that it's more of a space flight sim than the Rogue Squadron games. I enjoyed the RS games but felt like they were kind of shallow compared to the X-Wing / Tie-Fighter games. To properly play, you need a keyboard and flight stick.

They say partial for a lot of games.

I have so many fond memories of playing the X-Wing and Tie Fighter games. I've got to download them this evening.

But it sounds like it mostly doesn't mean anything.

BTW, gold medals in rogue squadron II are fricking hard
I remember getting gold on every mission on the N64, but this shite has me back to the throwing the controller across the god damn room phase. Luckily, slave I is now available and cluster missiles frick shite up.

Wouldn't it be best to buy these from GOG? Old games on Steam usually have compatibility issues.
