Ehh, this is a tricky situation. If you just want something to practice with you can just go and buy a super cheap combo one from Dick's to sort of understand how the mechanics of the casting works. Keep in mind that the cheap rod will feel different than what they will likely provide but at least you'll have an idea of what it takes to cast.
Youtube videos - watch them for hours. There are endless, high quality casting instruction videos. I think the orvis website has pretty good ones too.
EDIT: if you do practice, do not start out tossing 400 feet of line like you're Brad Pitt on the Blackfoot River. Keep it to short casts with subtle presentation. Also learn what mending is and how to do it.
