Yep, not even a full seven years. Very disappointed, will never purchase a bush hog brand product again.

Good luck with yours, being a 7' it may be made with a little thicker steel. Talking to the blast yard they seen almost one a month come in with same problem. If you dont galvanize it I would try and make sure to keep it clean and out of the weather if you can.

This. My 6 foot BH is 30 years old. Always keep it in the barn and clean the grass and weeds off it after I use it. Still looks good for a 30 year old piece of heavily used equipment, dents and all.

I believe it said it was made from 7 gauge steel. I'll park the bastard under the carport if need be
My next project is a shop with hip shed for it and other equipment. Thanks for the advice.

You must have left grass on top of in and out in the rain??

I have a 1981 bat wing (16') that has very little rust on the deck, the sides are beat to hell from my trying to cut too close to trees and hitting them though.

If there is any way you can keep things out of the rain the better. For one that size you could build a mini shed to keep it covered. 10 or so feet wide would be pretty cheap to build.

Keep the grass clippings off and out of the rain and it will last a long time.

FYI I also have an ancient JD 1240 planter that was built in July 1941 (according to the plate). I have had to replace the chains a few times but I keep everything clean and grease the hell out of it before and after each use. Works perfectly, but the fertilizer hoppers are about shot, I might have to figure out a new way to do replace them because a new pair will run about $900.

And to OP... Nice rig have fun with it

Text his old arse & he had to go put his boat back under the shed in this nasty weather. Haven't heard back from him yet

I wouldn't want anybody to worry about me! Big gust of wind picked me and my boat up and I've been treadin' water in Kansas with my lil dog Toto, since 6:30 this morning.

Nice lookin' rig jenar bois, did you get a FREE ball cap to go with it?

When you need parts for it in the future, I'm your huckleberry.

(No, I'm not a Deere parts dealer.)
