What's your distaste for the media as it relates to the cubs...media created the rivalry, bryant really isn't good, it's the cubs media machine hyping him?
He is salty

Is it really even that big of a rivalry? Only one of the two ever wins anything, and unlike the Yanks-Sox used to be, there doesn't seem to be any real hate, seems too friendly. I remember during the 98 home run chase they were really buddy buddy during the McGwire Sosa stuff. I would have Red Sox Yankees and Dodgers Giants ahead of it in terms of long standing rivalries
Uhhhh the Red Sox didn't win shite for like 80 years? The Sox/Yanks rivalry has only been meaningful over the last 10 years or so.
I'm more interested in seeing where the LA/StL rivalry goes. For the next 5 years it's going to be interesting.

Without question the Cardinal/Cub rivalry is the greatest rivalry in MLB

you laugh but the truth is in the 90's and early 00's when the Yankees were steam rolling everyone, no one gave a frick about the Sox or the rivalry, they were just a doormat.

Not even close to true. Regardless the Yankees and Red Sox have played in the playoffs 3 times, the other rivalries haven't matched up even once. And I can't recall when they were even in the playoffs at the same time

Baseball existed before the 90s and 00s
Also they made the playoffs 4 times in the 90s and played the Yankees in the LCS once, and played them twice in the 00s as previously noted

I do with #2-3. Very historic.

Nah, it's quite real.

I never said he wasn't good. I said he's the most hyped prospect in ages as if he's already an all star player. I think he will be good. And I think their prospects in general are over-hyped. (as are the Red Sox). Heck I'll defend the Cubs on this nonsense about not having Bryant in the majors right now - it would be inane to do that, given the labor rules and their belief that he'll be a great player.
ESPN has a love affair with the Cubs and the Red Sox. The Red Sox I get - it's their home team, and they've produced. The Cubs hype went into overdrive with the hiring of Theo, beloved by both ESPN and the sabre crowd (who mistakenly attribute the bulk of the Red Sox success in 04 and 06 to following sabre theories).
Rivalries are more prominent in amateur sports, but are really a thing of the past anyway. Red Sox and yankees have played meaningful games (but as pointed out, not consistently over the history of MLB); as have the Giants and Dodgers. So if you want to call those rivalries, fine. But the Astros-Cardinals have played more meaningful games than the Cubs-Cardinals.
