I Know!! Just want him to put Trier in his place along with the kid who got the tech for pushing him

Beautiful press-breaking TD pass!
Simmons is special.
Simmons is special.

Ultimately Simmons ended with a good game. Looked a little sluggish in the first half (understandable after the week he's had) and his teammates could not make wide open shots he was creating for them. Plus everytime he tried attacking the basket he instantly would get mugged by 3 guys.
If his teammates weren't 2-22 from three, it probably would have opened things up more for him.
His passing is so damn impressive and he plays the game so mature for his age.
I can't wait to see what he can do for us next season.

The guy for Findlay who got the tech, Khalea Turner, went to Riverside for a year before leaving to go to Curtis, spent like a year there before leaving.

That was an incredible game. Ben's basketball IQ is off the charts and he was clutch down the stretch at the FT line. I would've been pissed if they had lost that game due to the ref calling traveling when Ben only took 2 steps, that was an NBA move.

can someone give a brief recap of the second half?

I thought it was the right call on replay... he took two "steps" but his trail foot tapped the ground again after being lifted for the 3rd step. Rule book wise, correct call. However, there was a bump that denied his lift and caused the travel. Should have been a foul and no bucket.
Edit: Ben showed grit and made FT's at end... everything fans were needing to see (and rebounded).

Ok I don't remember the exact sequence of events now 2nd half: Basically same ole thing. Verde made virtually no outside shots (I think ended 2/22 from 3?), missed tons of FT's as well. A couple of turning points though, down 2, Simmons got a steal and a breakaway. A guy contested him and he did a euro step, got hacked, made the shot. The ref waved off the basket and foul and called travel instead. Coach D said he thinks it was the right call, but I thought it was pretty bad. Then Findlay got an easy layup coming out of the press, so instead of Verde up 1, they were down 4.
Also, in the last several minutes in OT, Simmons fouled a player trying to turn the corner out of the press...a full second to 2 seconds later, Marcel Ponitka for Verde reached in to try and steal the ball for some reason. The PG for Findlay who just got fouled, threw his arms up and created a little more contact, ref calls a Technical. At this point Verde was up 2. Boom, Findlay makes all 4 free throws with like 1:30 left to go up 2, AND they get the ball back. Well unexplainably, a player for Findlay (I believe someone said it was Khalea Turner?), bumps and I mean throws a solid shoulder into Ben while the teams are breaking their huddles from the bench to go back onto the floor. So technical. Now Simmons is shooting FT's, makes both and the game is now tied at 50 and Verde gets ball. Then amazingly, they hit one of their 2 3-pointers. Then I think Ben blocked a shot and Verde got it and got fouled and they eventually just made a few FT's.
5 players for Findlay fouled out. The reffing was truly atrocious and they virtually had no control over the game. I think Verde shot something like 46 free throws or so? Findlay shot upper 20's I think? Verde missed sooooo many free throws in the 4th quarter, couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat, yet still won. Simmons played all but 1 minute of the game. They zone the whole time, and double and triple teamed him. He scored 24, 15 rebounds, and I believe 6 assists. He also created about 15 wide open 3's and no one could make anything.
So yea, there's the game for you

Should be a good game vs Oak Hill for the championship.

Is the game tomorrow?

Simmons traveled. His trail foot dragged.
Posted on 4/3/15 at 7:49 pm to lsu31always
Which came first, the chicken or the egg? The foot drag was a direct product of the guy fouling him.
And the game is tomorrow at 11am central time

The guy on the other team named Triet(sp) was money. Someone will end up with a superstar....

He's going to Zona
What's crazy about Verde this year, they really aren't very good. Without Simmons they would probably have 8-9 more losses
