Is there any hope of Martin deciding to return?

IMO, if i was told by the scouts that i had that many holes in my game, i think id go back to school and try to fix one or two of those issues before jumping to the NBA.
the problem Martin will face is that he really doesnt have one thing that he does dominant that he can lean on as a young NBA player. sure hes really athletic but thats not really a "basketball" skill and doesnt produce success on its own. plenty of great athletes wash out because they lack true basketball skills and the NBA doesnt have to time to let these guys learn.
i just feel like i am watching another Stromile Swift or Tyrus Thomas. id hate to see Martin struggle in the NBA like those two when he could come back to play on one of the best teams LSu has fielded in a very long time.
what say you?

Or potentially find a roster spot and improve my game under NBA coaches and get paid doing it. Also, not dealing with school anymore....

He's going to the NBA. It's done.

maybe he'll see this thread and reconsider

He'll fit right in at the next level. Most NBA players have holes in their game.

If it was me, or my son, NBA.
No reason to stay in school and not get paid at this point.

If they're willing to pay you upfront to work on these issues? Nah, I'd go ahead and take the money, and so would you.

Thank all of you for pointing out the flaw in the decision process.
Most of you say that he should go get paid while he improves. There is are multiple problems with this thought process.
The biggest problem is that most players only get one shot at the NBA. If it doesnt workout by the end of his rookie deal, he'll be back at home looking for a 9-5. Its the classic "would you rather a dime today or a dollar tomorrow" scenario. Yeah he can go get paid some money now or he coukd improve his game and make MORE money later. Knowing there are only 30 teams with 12 roster spots a piece, the SMART decision would be to hone his skills as much as possible in college before risking youre future.
You wouldnt take the bar exam before finishing law school would you?
The short sightedness of athletes today never ceases to amaze me.
And the reason i compared him to tyrus and stromile is because they were both players that left the program after their second year on campus. So to say its a joke yo compare these players only further proves my point that Martin should return. If those two were so much better than martin and they couldnt cut it in the NBA, then why would Martin fair any better?
I know im beating a dead horse and hes not coming back but its not hard to see hes making the RISKIER choice. Not necessarily the wrong one since we dont know the outcome. But definitely the riskier choice.

These guys made probably $20 million a piece. He's gone.
Edit: Stromile: Career (may be incomplete) $43,190,443
T-Rex Thomas: Career (may be incomplete) $37,176,893

At least half of their money came from their rookie deals. Both were top 5 picks. Martin wont be a top 5 pick. He probably wont even be a lottery pick so the money upfront wont be as good and teams during his first FA wont be as willing to overpay for a former twenty something pick as they will for a former top 5 pick.
As others have said, his draft stock isnt as high as those two.

Not enough..needs to come back so he can further his education to get a real job after basketball

I love how yall think tyrus actually has $37 mil in the bank. Dude probaly spent most of it before he was done playing.
Athletes go broke all the time.

Ok, I give you Glen Davis and Brandon Bass
Baby: Career (may be incomplete) $26,538,680
Brandon Bass: Career (may be incomplete) $27,359,850
Anthony Randolph made over $12 million too. Martin will make a team, and be in the league for a number of years. Whether he is "maximizing" on the potential or not is probably irrelevant given this type of money.

I love how you think he spent most of it. What are you basing that off of?

literally no one has said this, but it also has nothing to do with this discussion. You think Tyrus having 2 more years of college would, at all in any way, impact whether or not he wasted $37 million?
