Getting rid Mosquitos in backyard

Anyone have suggestions for an excellent mosquito control system for the backyard?--I have researched the thermacell systems and they seem to come highly recommended but they also appear to cover a relatively small area and are costly to operate.--Thanks

A few years back I remember a guy going around the sugar mill spraying this all over every other day or so. It worked for the most part. Skeeters were minimal and you could tell when he missed a few days.

Do not get one of those mosquito magnets. They do not work, and are expensive.

How much money are you willing to spend? They have some automatic sprayers that work great if you can afford it. If not, the fogger will slow them down.

I've had lots of luck with this stuff. I have a 4gal backpack sprayer and pretty much cover the entire yard and exterior house walls.

+1 for talstar. Best stuff on the market. Spray the whole yard.

What local stores carry Talstar? Any of the big chain stores?

Online has way better pricing, like 50%+ less. Amazon has good prices with some Prime shipped.

Put a penny in a bag of water. Don't ask me how this works, but it works

Talstar works great. However, start with "drying" out your yard. Anything that holds water, catches water, lets water sit on it for two days has to go or get covered. Low spots in the yard that hold water after the rain need to be leveled up too. Thankfully here in Florida water doesn't sit on the ground long. It percolates pretty quick so the Talstar treatment does the trick for me.

Be careful when spraying flowers. It will kill bees.

I've seen that with fruit flies, but without the pennies.

Meh, a good fan may work fine on a small patio but not really a realistic option for an entire large backyard and possibly side and front yards while I'm at it.

Get rid of any standing water, no pots with saucers under them, no tires or buckets .You can spray the yard with garlic water for overnight relief. Burn mosquito coils at night, they work. Watch out for spraying chemicals as they kill only the bugs that get in contact but also kill your beneficial bugs and bees which cause more problems. My 2 cents worth.

You're gonna laugh, but this works like a charm. I was getting swarmed in the back yard and it completely knocked them out. It's also cheap as hell.
