how to turn ringer off on iphone, except for certain callers

"Do not disturb" mode only rings if it is one of your favorites calling. Or something like that. I never actually use it.

You might have to make a silent .M4R file, set that as your default ringtone (not seeing a place on the settings->notification->phone to set it to silent), then go to edit contact and change their ringer to one with sound for the callers you're looking for.

And then set favorites for who you do want calls to go through for.
Not sure how to do the opposite.

This - I did this because my son silenced his ringer. I think the Do Not Disturb will also eliminate text notifications but not sure. I was not paying for a phone he wouldn't answer. Now he answers everytime.
