That's the idea. Perhaps it streams to the tv like the gamepad does now. Who knows. Since they don't strive for power they are in a position to do it.
Would buy.
I think from a financial standpoint they need to do this.
They already recently combined their portable and home console divisions.

but old school nintendo on that platform would kill.
not really
most of their games require precision controls and mobile gaming suuuuuuuuuuucks in that regard.
Even basic JRPGs control like shite via touch screen.

You people act like Nintendo hasn't thought of that and buttons are impossible. This is Nintendo we're talking about.
Motion control has been around since the 80s and it sucked arse. Until Nintendo got it right.

Not commercially. And you know you loved the Wii.

I'm sorry but there is no way in hell you could ever play a game like Super Mario Bros w/touch screen controls. It's just not precise enough.
They would have to dumb it down to the Nth degree for it to work.

Even commercially. People are over it now. It was big for a brief period but it didn't last. Wii sports was fun but I hated playing games waving my arms around.

a new membership (or perhaps subscription) service
Will pay them whatever they want. Know why? Because Nintendo releases quality products. The Wii U wasn't marketed well at all but it is a solid gaming system with the best games in the business. Also, the online service for the Wii U is incredibly underrated. Not to mention it's free. So if there is a membership fee, I have full confidence that it will be nothing short of spectacular.

The point was it didn't fricking work until Nintendo made it work.
Nintendo 64 was not the first 3D 64-bit console. Mario 64 was not the first 3D platformer. Game Boy was not the first handheld.
But they might as well have been. We could look back and say remember how much mobile gaming sucked until Nintendo fixed it?
Like I said, Nintendo is all about revolutions and changing the paradigm.

I know they can make good mobile games possibly. I just don't trust them going into that market. If they are going to other platforms like mobile then I would rather they just went 3rd party.

The flash carts and emulators for 3DS are quite popular. Though they're illegal. That's basically my dream come true - to be able to play full NES, SNES, N64 titles on the go. I think there is a pretty big market for it for adult gamers with nostalgic love for Nintendo.
It all comes down to the device. Someone has to manufacture a device that runs an Android OS or something just as good, full functionality as a cellphone, has physical buttons without being bulky, relatively cheap and durable and reliable, and doesn't look stupid.
Idk if that can be pulled off, but if it can, Nintendo is the one to do it.

Not even close.
I went Wii U first this gen. It became a dust collector after Mario Kart, nothing more.
Hopefully Zelda can make me play it again.

Wii U has the best library right now IMO

I strongly disagree.

That's fine.
I'm gonna get a PS4 once Mortal Kombat and AK drop. I'll probably pick up the Order:1886 and Shadows of Mordor. But there is NOTHING on PS4 or X1 I'm dying to play right now. That's unprecedented for contemporaneous consoles.
Just my tastes tho.

with a PC and a WiiU, I'm in the exact same boat... absolutely nothing on ps4 or x1 that makes me say "ok I want to spend $400 to get into that community".. nothing, which has never happened before this generation. The WiiU on the other hand got me, because their outlook of games hooked me.

This.
I have an X1, and there isn't anything until Arkham Knight, FFXV and SF5.
Maybe The Division.
Shadow of Mordor and GTAV were great though. Sports games as usual, but there's so little that's unique on the system. Same for PS4, which probably has a couple of better games.
