US News has UT-A undergrad in-state tuition at just under $10,000. LSU OOS is $26,500 roughly.
But generally, yes, LSU is cheaper. LSU in-state is under $9,000 while UT-A OOS is $35,000.
Acceptance rates are far, far higher at LSU, though. And it is definitely easier to get money there. Particularly in-state. TOPS is (or was) a fricking joke to get. It took me a 32 ACT and 4.4 GPA to get full-ride tuition while I understand Louisiana residents got the same deal for 25 ACT and 3.5 GPA.

Moved to Texas two years ago, HS Soph son and freshman daughter
Both kids are life long LSU fans, wife is from BTR, I went to LSU
Both kids want to go to LSU, no idea how we will pay for it
Few things we have going for us, kids are honor students in Katy ISD, family owns a house in BTR so living expenses will be cheap
Plan on sending them to BRCC or SELA for a year or two, set up the house with their name on a "lease," set up utilities in their name, have each get jobs, register to vote, file a LA tax return and apply for LA citizenship after 2 years there in BTR
pray for us

I wouldn't look too much into a university's acceptance rate. They can easily be manipulated & don't show the quality of education an institutions provides.
For example, compare these acceptance rates:
The Ohio State 55%
ULL 59%
Georgia 54.7%
Georgia State 53%

But what I am saying is Texas Unis hide a lot fees. I just looked at UNT and it comes out to about $9600 a year. But they also charge Course Fees that are not included in the Tuition number they give you on their web site. They say Course Fees are not included in the stated price but its difficult to find a $ amount for these course fees. I just texted my nephew who is at UNT and he said he pays an addition $4000 per year in "other" fees. Still lower than LSU OST....and maybe LSU sneaks these type fees in too.
