It's so stupid.
HS football in LA around that time was at an all-time high and has continued to be so.. regardless how poor LSU played before, the turn around was bound to happen.. as most of these players were coming to LSU.. considering LSU is the only major college in state..
Any ways.. the players from Saban's final 2 recruiting years that were still around for the 2007 season. Keep in mind, not all Seniors were his as some were transfers.
Matt Flynn (qb) Tyler, TX
Early Doucet (wr) St. Martinville, LA
Keith Zinger (te) Leesville, LA
Mit Cole (te) Picayune, MS
Jacob Hester (rb) Shreveport, LA
Quinn Johnson (fb) Edgard, LA
Shawn Jordan (fb) El Paso, TX
Herman Johnson (lg) Danton, TX
Carnell Stewart (rt) River Ridge, LA *recruited as dt
Will Arnold (ol) Centreville, MS
Max Holmes (ol) Baton Rouge, LA
Brett Helms (c) Stugart, AR
Ryan Miller (c) Lake Charles, LA
Tyson Jackson (de) Edgard, LA
Kirston Pittman (de) Reserve, LA
Tremaine Johnson (de) Galena Park, TX
Glenn Dorsey (dt) Gonzales, LA
Marlon Favorite (dt) Harvey, LA
Luke Sanders (lb) West Monroe, LA
Chevis Jackson (cb) Mobile, AL
Jonathon Zenon (cb) Breaux Bridge, LA
Craig Steltz (s) New Orleans, LA
Curtis Taylor (s) Franklinton, LA
Harry Coleman (s) Baldwin, LA
Patrick Fisher (p) Hyattsville, MD
starters in bold

Why was this ever a discussion?
No one doubts Les's recruiting chops. What is called into question, however, is his ability to develop talent.
Given the small timeframe the starters from '07 would have actually spent being coached by Saban or his assistants, the influence that they would have had on those players is tenuous at best.
Thus, although they were "Saban's recruits," they were without a doubt "Les's players."
They were all absolutely Les' players from a development and coaching standpoint.. considering Saban bolted after 2004. Miles also had a number of his soph, and juniors starting in 2007.. mostly on the line, even over the seniors. Chad Jones was even in the dime as a freshman. (Just wanted to throw a CJ shout out..)
All of the beastly rb's aside from Hester that year were his recruits. Keiland, Scott, Murphy, and even Trindon.. All these guys could handle the starting role.
Perrilloux was very instrumental in getting us there as well. So even if you took off the out of state recruit pulls such as Flynn, LSU would still be in prime shape (Perrilloux was SEC MVP vs a JOHN CHAVIS SEC D!), and I still believe the Louisiana guys were coming to LSU. But again, these were Les' guys as he had them all pretty much from day 1.
Miles' strength was the offensive line. He was absolutely outstanding in this department.. and he had his players absolutely FIRED up to play for him. As he should. They had his back. He earned it, along with the team. Period.

If player was Fr. In 2004, then saban recruit.
Not all were still around for that 2007 season though. But a good suggestion.

Till this day les miles has yet to bring in a QB outta high school that is effective in the sec... I pray brandom Harris breaks that 10 year skid this year
Effective? I'm sorry but jl and JJ combined to go undefeated in the sec. I'd say that is effective.

But if you look at the complete roster, not just "starters" LSU had more OOS players on that 07 squad than instate. At least where they went to hs their sr year. Let's not forget the state was actually down from 05-10. Compared to some of saban years and from 11- now.

Thank you!
Its funny how often facts are ignored and history is un-intentionally rewritten by negative tools. I believe the 2011 team to be one of the all time best CFB teams period. From top to bottom they played the best regular season ever and unfortunately for some ranters that includes the QB position.

Did you just use 2 of the worst QBs in cfb in recent memory and say they where effective.... We went undefeated because of great d and running the ball. Not behind JJ or JL arms.

Ryan Perrilloux was a Miles guy. We wouldn't have been there without him.

It was more than that. Saban developed a culture of winning at LSU that permeated throughout the locker room as well as through the fan base. Its not just about his players but the attitude that was developed over the years he was at LSU. He makes people (players as well as fans) expect to win and with high expectations come results when you do the work it takes to be a champion.
Be thankful for what he did at LSU and be thankful for coach Miles. Les Miles is a good coach and a great person. I wouldn't mind at all if my son was around a man like Les Miles for three or four years of his life. Les is probably a much better person than Nick Saban in my opinion and he would probably be a lot more fun to hang out with on a fishing trip or at the hunting club. Saban just is what he is and that is, a winner! Saban is rare and right now we are just fortunate that he is at Alabama but he will be gone before long.

I'm not reading this but it's pretty easy to look up.

Perilloux would not have been if we didn't have Miles
with no Perilloux we have no QB in the SEC Championship game and we lose
so we never make it to the BCS Championship
Your analysis can stop there

quote:Wrong. DiNardo developed a culture of winning at LSU. The administration tried to cultivate that winning culture without paying for it. They found out it costs money to continue to win.
It was more than that. Saban developed a culture of winning at LSU.
They learned their lesson, opened their wallet, and hired Saban. After the lesson they learned with DiNArdo, LSU opened their wallet and Saban continued a culture of winning at LSU.

Look up there passing yards per game.... We had a dominating running game and just because they could hit some wide open guys off of play action they where great QBs??? They where asked to hand it off every game and to not do to much. Our D took us to the title and our qb situation is the reason we lost it!
