Soldier refuses to tip waitress telling her serving his country was good enough

Is serving your country as a soldier a good reason for refusing to tip a server in a restaurant? Apparently, if a Facebook post that went viral this week is the real deal, at least one former soldier believes it is — and that he is exempt from the ordinary practice of leaving a tip after a meal due to “the freedoms I provided.”
Is the soldier justified? Or is he just being a first-class jerk?
Here’s what happened. The story first surfaced on the Facebook page of Ranger Up MIiltary and MMA Apparel, a business that, as the name implies, sells “shirts for the military and the patriotic Americans who love the men and women of the Armed Forces. The guys that own this company either were or are still in the military,” according to the page.
The Ranger Up page also lists the company’s Number One priority as “AMERICA. Nothing like her anywhere, anytime, in the history of the world.” Right after that, “Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, Coastguardsmen, Firemen, and Police Officers.”
But when the Ranger Up guys saw the following photo, of a meal receipt from a Red Robin restaurant franchise, they remarked, “We’re going to file this in the ‘Don’t Be That Guy’ folder.”
This is the receipt they were talking about, in a post that went up Sunday and has already been shared nearly 2,000 times.

Soldiers today have not provided freedoms to us.
Maybe he should go to Iraq and let them thank him for freedom.

Guy using his military service as an excuse for being an a-hole? Nah say it ain't so.

You don't have to leave a tip, sorry. Kind of depends on how good the server was, doesn't it?
On the other hand, guy could've just been being a dick

ISIS should thank us. Instead of cutting off our heads.

So he's one of those who thinks being in the military is a free pass to be a douche to all the people you claim to be protecting

Well behind all the Lee Greenwood songs and Veterans Day celebrations, allow me be the first to inform you that the military has no shortage of douchebags. We may have more than our fair share.
Just ask anyone who's served long enough to be a few years removed from early indoctrination and their first operational assignment.

What's up with people being assholes over tipping?? Shouldn't they have figured out its going to go viral. That's completely NF.

It's fine to be proud of one's service, but when you use veteran status to pull crap like this, you are just a loser.

Hasn't there been a rash of people faking these receipts as well?

Let's assume this is legitimate, and not another in a long string of these that people have faked to try to make it a meme -
No.
As a 27 year veteran - yes.
(If accurate and not faked.)
