In this scenario, I would consider my actual eye color irrelevant.
I meant it's not completely irrelevant with the dress picture. Because unless the photo has been edited heavily, the colors that the dress reflects in person will obviously have some effects on what color it appears in the picture. The red eye example was just meant to show that a photo of something can show a different color than the actual color. I don't know why that's so hard to grasp.

You clearly don't understand anything if you think anyone is arguing with the exact shade in the photo.
It isn't what color is the dress in real life when it isn't distorted by the flash of the camera taking the photo?
Or did Scruffy miss that post?

The question is: "What color is the dress?"

I'd love to experiment on this. Take a picture of something everyone knows is red, like superman's cape, and and turn the flash and ISO up really high to where it could look orange. So, even though we know what color it is, would we be having this argument about red or orange?
And again, I don't get the white.
And again, I don't get the white.

Wired has an explanation.

At least we can all agree on one thing: The people who see the dress as white are utterly, completely wrong.
THANK YOU!!!!

Probably went to Southern.

The people saying white say that because it appears to be a white dress outside on a bright day (according to the background) with a shadow covering the dress. I think if you asked them literally what shade they saw, they wouldn't say white. But for the white and golders, it seems like a white and gold dress in the shade on a bright day.

The question is "What color is the dress?"
You are assuming one way and I am assuming the other.

Wired's color pull from the photo

Look at all that blue gray and gold brown

So if I said I know what it looks like, but I can tell what color the dress actually is, does that fly with the gold/white crowd?

Good thing the dress contained in that picture is Black and Blue. Just like the question asked.

This is unique because black and blue vs. gold and white are so drastically different than red vs. orange.
Yall are saying the white is blue.. I could maybe see a very light shade of baby blue but I would still describe it as white. Just looks like it is in the shade. Are you seeing royal blue?

It's hypercolor so it's both when you blow on it

If I take a picture of superman and make the picture black and white, are you going to tell me you see red and blue?
