Just noticed someone that I have mutual friends with on fb has a pic up of him and a buddy hoisting some up.
Kinda pisses me off knowing how rare they are.
Fwiw they're hoisting at their house so they def kept them.

There is a size limit, but yea you can keep 2 per person under 30" jaw fork length. However, it is illegal to take them in saltwater areas of the state and in border waters shared with TX.
ETA: paddlefish

Yes, but no snagging. Not sure how else one would catch them.
They are not rare.

When I was a kid and they had recently damned up lake D'arbonne, we used to catch these all the time.
Haven't seen one in years now though

I've probably caught 5 or 6 in my life.

Used to catch a ton of those at Bayou Benoit back in the 80's and 90's. Almost became a nuisance. I don't think I ever kept one though.

It's legal. A Google search would have educated you faster than posting a topic

You kinda should be pissed at yourself for judging someone and not knowing the laws.

Correct. I know places I can go 6 months out of the year and see them in the river.

I have heard they are good if you steak them out like a shark. I've caught a few on accident, but never kept one. I've never caught one small enough to be legal. Every one I've ever got to the boat was damn near 6 ft long. When you hook something like that in the tail or back, they'll spool you in a second. There's an area of a river I fish where they congregate sometimes. Hard to bass fish there without snagging them. Might be 200-300 in a 100yd stretch.
