Commander's Palace **UPDATED IN OP W PICS**

Going to have my first experience at Commander's Palace tomorrow night. Any recommendation on what is good from those who have been?
ETA:
Had a great experience! Staff was very welcoming and did a great job
Shrimp and tasso henican was awesome. Spicy and sweet. The pickled okra was on point. I could have eaten 10 of these shrimp.
Gumbo was also very good of course.
I went with the 8 oz steak and was not mad at it. The potato puree with the mushrooms and onions went perfectly together.
Wife (no pics) got the three course meal and looking back I think we would have went a different route if we could do it over. She loved the shrimp and tomato bisque that she got. She got the gulf fish provencal as her entree and the strawberry shortcake as her dessert. I tried both and they were good but I think she would have enjoyed the pecan crusted gulf fish more. Also tried a bite of the cheesecake. So. Damn. Good. When we go back we are getting the cheesecake for dessert, no doubt.
Thanks for the advice everyone

Tell them you want the 4 course meal dinner. Tell the waiter to choose for you. Sit back and enjoy.

There are some standard dishes that stay on the menu, but the menu changes regularly as do the specials.
I have sort of a fetish for the Shrimp Henican appetizer though I try to order differently sometimes.
If you use Facebook, look at Tory McPhail's home page as well as Commander's. Sometimes they post pics of current specials and other dishes they're serving at the time.
I don't think you can go wrong. I've always enjoyed my meals there.

Turtle soup.
Every entree I've ever had has been outstanding. Usually order some kind of fish
Choc molten soufle is favorite dessert but haven't seen them donut in years. Pecan praline parfait is next favorite dessert.

It's the season for strawberry shortcake, my favorite CP dessert.

I had the Osso Bucco last time and it was fantastic. Girlfriend had a salmon dish that was very good too.
Yes, the souffle for dessert is a must.

(1)Order what they call the "gumbo" appetizer.
(2)Ask for some rice to go with it...
(3)watch reaction, chuckle.

I'm not a big fan but i guess you have to try it once.
Their strawberry shortcake dessert is money.

CP is my favorite restaurant, although I must confess that my past few visits have been somewhat lackluster. I love their turtle soup and just about any entree you get will be superb. As far as desserts go, the soufflé is the much-ballyhooed one but I personally think it's overrated. I prefer the shortcake, to be honest.

They have something they call the "Chef's Playground" not sure the number of courses, but we got that last time, and it was outstanding. Changes a good bit based on what they are getting at the time.

You took pictures of your food inside Commanders Palace? That is literally the tackiest thing I've ever heard. Whether in a private jet or in the end zone at the super bowl act like you've been there before
