You are the one who is against closing schools when potential ice is on the roads for young children to be out on

Feh, weak. Parking lot here had about half an inch solid ice in some places. Not slush, solid hard ice from snow meltoff running across the surface then refreezing overnight. I keep a set of ice cleats in the truck just for these days.

I used to be an OB Billy Badass about people coming to work when it snows / sleets. I hated that most of my employees used it as an excuse to not come to work. But a few years ago, I convinced one of my workers who is also a good friend to come to work and he almost wrecked on the way in. I would have felt like crap if that happened. We laugh about it today, but I'm not such a hard arse about it anymore.

I haven't seen one model that predicted Alex to have an issue today between 7a and 3p.
If the forecast had changed that dramatically a decision could have been made early this morning or as conditions warranted.

yeah, it used to piss me off too. of course, i live walking distance from the office, and all secretaries live on the wrong side of the river, and have to cross various iced up bridges.

That's what I was saying I'm all for closing when it will ice. But all of the forecasts I saw say Monday evening at the earliest. They should have went to school today.

This. I don't have a problem with cancelling school. I just think they react too quickly.

Those folks that have to make those decisions are in a No Win.

Why would you want it to ice here?
Because it goes great with bourbon

They should have went to school today.
