have family in LC and they told me its great for the city and all, but they are worried that the traffic is going to get out of control as well as the crime
many of the people coming in are roughnecks and guys who move around and whats going to happen when they build all these extra schools and houses to accommodate these people and then they move on in 5-8 years?
LC doesn't have the infrastructure yet but they need it bad. schools suck there too, Barbe is over capacity so they need to move quickly to get something done. traffic was already shitty when I went there over Xmas break

roughnecks who move in aren't going to bring a ton of families to flood the schools and the housing is being handled by temporary man camps and trailer parks. there is also going to be a huge level of permanent jobs left over

what the frick?
LC is one of the few urban areas of LA with solid public school options

There will be tons of ongoing jobs created as well as tons of support jobs. Also, when you take into account how long these projects are going to last, I am not too worried about the housing and schools after. That will balance itself out.

What? You can get anywhere you need to in Lake Charles in like 10 minutes. Same with Sulphur. The other day I made it from Westlake to way South LC in about 15 minutes.
ETA: The only thing making it sort of bad right now is they are doing some road construction to support these projects and the Casino area.

Sulphur is building or adding onto the HS right now, aren't they? Sam Houston really is out of room though and Moss Bluff could easily support another high school or a private school. Barbe can still grow some but another school there wouldn't hurt.

Oh. I saw something going on there. Wasn't sure what it was exactly.

Sasol delayed the FID on the GTL plant because of low oil prices. Construction on the ethane cracker is advancing.

I have always done a bit of work along that corridor but the last 24 months it's up about 65% and I see it getting much larger for the foreseeable future.

1. Who was Charles?
2. Did he really deserve to have a whole lake named after him?

Considering he supposedly shot his wife for having an affair with Jean Lafitte and then disappearing, probably not.

Ahhh...I must have been thinking of another 50 year old poster that constantly makes references to the 40's, 50's and 60's.

This could be huge for much of the state also. Baton Rouge industrial construction firms should/have been picking up a ton of this work. Haynesville gas is best suited to be exported due to pipeline infrastructure in place and reserves left to drill. Linking the price to worldwide LNG rates should improve gas prices for operators there. This could be the rationale for the black stone group (Vine) buying shells position there out. Lake Charles new projects and the rest of the gulf coast petrochemical expansions and new builds are all a result of the massive reserves of natural gas American oil and gas companies have unleashed in the last ten years.

Traffic? We have two weeks of traffic per year, and you're a dumbass if you take Prien Lake around Christmas, rookie.
Posted on 2/14/15 at 1:49 pm to AmosMosesAndTwins
Had a brainfart and took prien/Nelson intersection during the Christmas holidays. At 5:30 pm. Wanted to slap the shite out of myself.
