LSU won't take a 5'11" pitcher in this class
Greg Maddux was listed at 6 foot. So he was probably closer to 5'11'' since they always add some. I think he turned out alright.

Yeah. Just because Manny is close to the same height doesn't make him Greg Maddux. I haven't noticed him holding an LSU baseball offer yet. He's certainly a good high school pitcher. I just don't see him as a pitcher they'll pursue given their young rotation and the guys they've scouted for upcoming years.

He wants to play at Michigan.
I think his dad is trying to scrape the money together to send him...

Yes, he wants to play football elsewhere. People don't understand that he wants to get away from the nest and earn his own way. It's a tough position to be a coach's son. I don't blame him.

Muggsy Bogues was listed at 5'3" and he turned out ok too. I doubt there are any major colleges lining up to recruit 5"3" point guards.
There is a science to identifying good pitchers and Height is one of the factors that is considered.
There are always exceptions, but major colleges play he percentages.

Lol why does size matter? Either you're good enough or you aren't. Baseball of all sports lol..

1. Manny was asked if he would play football for his dad.
He said, "Not in a million years". Its not just playing for his dad, its playing for his dad at a school where everyone has an opinion about everything from the first snap of spring practice.
2. Hoke is gone and I would bet that Manny never met Harbaugh.
3. I think people would love it if Manny pitched for LSU.
We all wish him well.

Man all his kids are freaking Atheletes! Isn't Ben Miles a fullback? What's his thoughts about playing for dad?

It's not the number one factor by any means, and I have scouted and coached baseball specifically for some time. However, I've had experience with major programs recruiting pitchers and they rarely even take a look at a guy less than 6' tall to receive a major scholly. There are exceptions and every program is different. That's just what I've experienced and LSU is one of the more critical of the colleges from my experience.
Manny doesn't want any favors done for him. I expect he'll play college football or baseball somewhere still.

I understand.
I was thinking about UCLA and that kid Bauer being short, but even he is listed as 6'1.. but he had unreal filthy stuff to begin with.
Jared Robinson of Houston last year who owned us is listed right at 6 ft.. so he very well may be 5'11. He dominated our lineup. 6 innings and no runs? And wasn't that on short rest? I don't remember. He OWNED US. haha

There are certainly guys of all sizes with just undeniable filthy stuff. Like somebody else mentioned, big programs play the averages and go for the bigger guys typically.

I'm not saying LSU should be beating the bushes for 5'11" pitchers. However, particularly at the college level, 6'5" isn't a prerequisite for being a good pitcher. My main point was when you've got a kid who is a good prospect and is the son of a coach at your school (and therefore doesn't need a full scholarship), why would you not take a chance on the kid. Seems dumb to dismiss it out of hand.

How good is he on the mound? LSU has a lot of young pitching talent right now. Not sure a piece of a scholly should go to a player if he's not on the level of what's around. Plus,my kid can't afford too many pitchers this year or lsu want need many pitchers in 2016.

I have an official update on Manny Miles:
Earlier today, he went to Taco Bell and tried that new item that is steak and cheese on a flat bread.
He liked it.
That is all.

Ron Guidry was 5 11". USL or SW La or whatever they called L-Laffy back then.
1978 25-3 in the AL, with a 1.74 ERA.

In this class is what I said. And I should have added not a 5'11" rhp actually. I'm well aware that there have been successful pitchers of that height. LSU doesn't recruit many guys with that build.
