Or are you looking at it more stylistically? With the ball movement etc? I'm no super Holiday fan either. Just curious, SP.
Cunningham was here during PTAO. Pondexter was a phenomenal addition. I can see the home argument. They were able to finally settle in, and I'm sure really being able to get in some actual practice time helped immensely (which is a credit to Monty actually). However, I think the way this team is currently playing will translate to road wins.
My only point was: Evans the Distributor (and the offensive system in general now) has such a natural trickle down effect and is the biggest reason for the turnaround. Everyone seems comfortable and confident in their current roles and that starts at the top.
I'm very hesitant to throw Holiday (another ball handler) into a good thing. It's not a knock on Holiday. I would just rather him shore up the 2nd unit depth and be the main ball handler off the bench, which is the only role I don't feel Gordon has been entirely comfortable in lately.

Cool. Thanks.
Yeah. It's weird how the ball is moving more all of sudden. I haven't seen them do much differently, guys are just looking for shooters and the ball is not sticking. But maybe I'm missing it?
That's a very fair point. It's a good problem to have, but still an issue

I credit the coaching and the addition of Gordon/QPon. Off ball movement has been night and day as well. I think that starts with those 2 people specifically: Eric Gordon and Quincy Pondexter.
Gordon is working extra hard on that end of the floor to get great looks instead of settling for ok looks. That hard work has often paid off in open 3s or better looks for others off the dribble.
Pondexter seems to hold the team accountable for lazy offense. The second I saw him getting on Davis in the very first game, I knew we had something brewing finally. He leads by example as well. He's always active on both ends of the floor, and 9/10 times it's the right play.
Everyone else seems to be naturally figuring out their spacing strengths as the offense flows so smoothly.
About Monty: I've always wanted to see how he would handle 2 situations, and I never thought we would get to that point.
1) How will he handle success? Will the team's attitude improve as they started winning consecutive ballgames on a routine basis? The team's attitude has improved substantially. I'm sure the lion's share of that has been the rise of Davis the leader, but Monty deserves credit as well for what happens behind the scenes.
2) The other one I want to see is how the team and him respond to falling back down again. I hope we don't see this one this season as we don't have room for error.

Definitely agree on Gordon and QPon. Their willingness to pass has been infectious.

Just another bit of evidence for exactly how "average" Jrue is.
Russell Westbrook with Jrue
December 2nd he shot 20% 6/20
December 21st he shot 37% 10/27
Russell Westbrook without Jrue
February 4th he shot 58% 18/31
We should be able to get that from any point guard seeing how average Jrue is, right?
And I'm not trying to say Holiday is elite, but people throw around the word average as if he can easily be replaced and it's just not true because he's one of if not the best defensive PGs in the league. I've always said he's a B across the board player, good but not great in any one area, but he's probably an A in defense.

Very interesting read from Pellessier (one of my favorites at BSS).
Mike is a great guy

Defensive pg, something we don't have without him

Jrue is an elite defender vs the big name talent and a good defender vs the regular guys. That is frustrating to me. Last night was a game tailor made for us needing Jrue Holiday, and we missed him badly.

Yep.
I just wish Holiday were 2 inches taller. He's basically a shorter Iguodala.
