Some, sure. Harold's death, no. She has no way of knowing that kind of thing on her own.
She's a computer hacker by trade. Do you not think she would figure out that once Harold accessed the trojan, that Samaritan might be able to track it back to him?

But it's not a matter of willing anything because the machine did not come up with the plan that set his death in motion.
While it didn't come up with the plan, it did make the decision to not have Root intervene. And if the machine thought that there was a very high probability that Harold's plan would get him killed, then by not letting Root intervene it was basically willing/allowing for Harold to be sacrificed.

It could still be making a calculation that this is their best chance to take down Samaritan, and so likely sacrificing Harold would be worth it. Without taking down Samaritan, they are all dead anyway most likely.
The main questions I have at this point:
- why the heck is the machine texting her? That is very out of character.
- will we learn more about Samaritan motivations and goals?
- what would happen if the machine and Samaritan directly spoke? I would be afraid to let that happen, because I wonder if their goals are similar, even if methods differ.

But I'm a little confused about her feelings for Harold. Does she see him as a really close friend that she couldn't stand to lose,
It's this, think back to season one.. Also just caught up, this episode was awesome

Awesome use of Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine".

I was kind of hoping for a better end for the Elias & Dominic storyline. But I guess they needed to prove Samaritan's true plan to the viewers.
I was also hoping that they would end the Samaritan storyline this season, but it looks like it will be a series endgame storyline.

Reese/Riley's escape from the Brotherhood via the fax from the machine was AWESOME!!
Also the machine's convo with Harold at the end was really well done!

Agree with both.
I loved how active the machine was this week. It showed a bit of what it could actually do if it wanted. It has a lot of self restraint over its power.
Oh and "Harold Admin" had me laughing. That and the fax machine plus john's response were great.

Was hoping Shaw would be rescued in the finale. I guess we will have to wait to next season.

twins can cause a massive amount of havok on the human body, and when the show is run by Roman Catholics... being pregnant with twins is basically the biggest "pass" you can get.
As for this episode... it was so much more enjoyable knowing that the terminator bitch was dead, when Root finally got her last episode my wife screamed at the time of her lungs "frick YEAH, DIE YOU STUPID BITCH!!"

It'll be interesting to see how long they "fly blind" next season before they get the machine up and running again.

This has been a really great season. The last few episodes were outstanding. My only complaint was the Root/Shaw love angle. Just seemed weird and not like her character that Root would be a love sick puppy dog around Shaw. Shaw's reaction was in line with her character though.
Now Root and Harold's relationship is outstanding. Some of my favorite scenes are when they are working together. Root's love for Finch just seems genuine and in line with her character's persona (young brash hacker looking up to the king of all programmers).

skipped straight to the end of the thread. I watched all of POI up until this current season so I haven't seen any of it, but do have them all on DVR and plan on marathoning it.
How does this one compare to other seasons? Is it just as good?

I would say yes. Really not sure how to go into more detail w/o spoiling

Their characters both seem to care for and have respect of each other. I also like when Harold interacts with Bear.
