Michael Mann's "Blackhat" bombs hard

$4 million opening weekend with a $70 million budget.
There was a thread on here sometime last week that mentioned how poor the reviews were. Trailers were weird too - didn't generate any kind of excitement.
Kinda sad to see how far Mann has fallen. Public Enemies was very meh too, but at least it made money.

I just dont understand anyones motivation with that movie. Mann hadnt done anything in a while and this was the movie he decided to make?

Collateral was a pretty big success financially. The Aviator was, as well.
Somehow Public Enemies made a bunch of money.

That's probably because Martin Scorcese directed that.

Collateral was good.
Yeah, I loved Collateral. I enjoy most of Mann's movies, but this one just didn't look interesting at all.

Yea Mann only produced.
All apologies.
All apologies.

Everyone knows that being a hacker doesn't include doing black ops and jumping from helicopters. This movie looks like it belongs in the 90's when everyone still thought hackers were genius, martial artist, spy hunters.

There was nothing about that movie that made me want to see it

Collateral and The Last of the Mohicans are both really really good.

Thief is a solid movie. You guys know it better as Drive.
I am known for pimping Manhunter over Red Dragon.
As a kid I loved The Keep (tits) haven't seen it since the 80s so I can't really talk much about it other then (tits).
Mohicans is a solid film.
Heat! Enough said.
The Insider is a fantastic film.
I didn't hate Ali but I've never revisted it.
Collateral is loved by many.
I skipped Miami Vice and felt underwhelmed by Public Enemies.
The trailer for Blackhat looked so bad, I might not even watch for free.
I have no clue if directors are responsible for picking the soundtrack / score, but Mann has always been great at it.
I love all of his 80s Tangerine Dream kick.
Manhunter sreams the 80s.
Mohicans has an awesome score especially the song at the end.
The sanvean song in the Insider was perfect.
Really liked the song from Ali when Ali is running the streets of Africa.
I own most of the soundtracks.

It opened unfortunately, or not, the same weekend American Sniper opened nationally. Direct competition, and it got blown away.

I see most movies but I'll pass on this one. Thor looks miscast. And hacker movies are just lame.

Having a guy who is mostly known as a superhero by the mass audiences play a nerd hacker didn't seem to make sense.
