Getting rid of squirrels in your yard/porch...any ideas?

I have a buddy, lets call him Sampson, he just renovated a house and built an awesome screened in porch in his back yard with a TV, couches, etc.
In 3 months the squirrels have eaten at least 5 holes in the screen and whenever you go out onto the porch, there are at least 2 running around above your head.
Sampson bought a .22 rifle and killed 3 so far, but this has not slowed them down at all. He is scared to keep shooting because he is in the city limits and doesn't want his neighbors to call the cops.
Are there poisons, traps, etc. that any of y'all have used that have helped eliminate squirrels?

Go to local hardware/feed store and buy larger rat traps. Screw to wood in area where squirrels are being little bastards. Bait traps with peanut butter...... drink beer and profit
Learned from an old coonass that would set them down Bayou Teche then paddle down and check them...

Catch them in a cage trap. Let the squirrels out on a well traveled road so they can be ran over. That way the OT will have something to eat.

Same issue when we moved in the new place. Put up 2 feeders. Keep 1 full of sunflower seeds the other ears of corn on a spike. The little bastards stay on those feeders and away from the house. Plus its kind of entertaining watching them scrap with each other on the feeders.

Feeding the squirrels increased their appearances in the yard. It's entertaining for a short period of time, but where there are squirrels, there are rats and rats started showing up. Had to take down all the squirrel and bird feeders. Can't deal with rats. The squirrels are still around because of all the oak trees and acorns. Can't do anything about that. The neighbors cats increased and that's helped keep the squirrels out of the back yard, but the cats get on the roof and chase them. Sounds like a riot up there, plus the cats might be doing damage to my own screening on my new patio.

Going on 3 years now haven't noticed any more or any less. Definitely have not seen any rats or evidence of rats. Then again they maybe different in my neck of the woods. Just know the tip the old man gave me has worked well.

I tried rat traps, and the squirrels were too fast for them. They would jump away faster than the bar on the trap could slam down. Ended up using those green cubes of rat poison. That did the trick.
