dnr - too many numbers in user name.
seriously though - I have a strange aversion to putting much weight into things people who use a bunch of numbers in their screen name write. Just seems like there would be more original names.

and great college players arent always highly rated prospects or big time recruits.
Right, its a combination of recruiting well and then developing players you recruit. You can recruit five star players and that means little if you can't develop them. On the other hand, even the best developer of talent may come up short if he possesses a roster of 2 and 3 star players.
Some coaches are great recruiters and some are better at developing talent. Then there's that handful who do both equally well.

Bama has lost to Ole Miss, Auburn, and TAMU these last few years.
Outliers are the obstacles to any well made argument.
Not laying everything at the feet of the highly ranked recruits but how many conf titles does OM have? A&M? Auburn caught lightening in a bottle last year but their season was about the same as LSU's this year.
So yes, Bama's lost to all of them the past few years. In that same time, they've won 2 SECC's and a national title. So maybe there's something to the recruiting angle?

I'll translate, Miles is not a very good coach. Look we all know that right, our only hope is tons of talent.

No, but got to have the peanut butter and the jelly and since 2011, we had a slow drop off of talented defensive tackles. Yes, many went pro but very few replacements. This year we were fortunate that defensive line players stayed healthy the latter part of the year.

We have poor player development, especially on the offensive side of the ball when it comes to skill positions, that is, offensive.
It's not just about recruiting.

Sure are a lot of poorly developed skill players making it to the NFL. I'll grant you the QB position. Miles has absolutely sucked it up in that regard. But WR's and RB's are doing just fine in the league.

all that being said, we've been doing something wrong on the DL and the LB. for that matter, maybe the OL has been lacking a bit too. it seems like every top DB prospect in the nation wants to come to LSU but we have got to get busy in the trenches.
