I still remember the sheriff of Jefferson parish testifying that if we are going to win the war on drugs we can't allow this bill to pass

I've never been so angry at a public official. I wish one of the senators would have turned around and busted him off in the mouth

DING, DING, DING. Winner! It's not that the politicians are opposed to legalizing. It's that it isn't worth it TO THEM yet. As soon as it it is in their best interest, it will be legalized with a quickness.

I assume you mean black market distributors. These guys are already taking a hit. I think I saw something where they are mass producing more heroin in Mexico now to substitute for their loss of bud income.

A Georgia state senator has introduced two pieces of legislation Monday that would legalize both medical and recreational marijuana in the state.

I wouldn't get too excited. These bills won't go anywhere.

Seeing as how Georgia just recently legalized Sunday alcohol sales after a decades long fight, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this doesn't get anywhere.

So what happens to the cartels and distributors who move the reefer if legalization occurs? But I agree with your opinion

They'll have one less crop to push. They would have to either focus more on other drugs that are still illegal, go legit, or take a huge hit because they lose a cash crop.

Does pot really help with those medical conditions?

or is pot used as an escape for people who are diagnosed with said conditions?

It helps nausea a lot, which is huge for chemo patients.

It also helps migraines, insomnia, and general pain. The other things prescribed for those things are addictive. Marijuana is not. The opiate addiction in this country is an epidemic and this is one way to help with that.

Also, the oil derived from it has shown to drastically reduce seizures in epileptics.

I have yet, in my life, heard a good reason to criminalize marijuana for consenting adults. Not one. Its not addictive, its not a "gateway" drug if you obtain it legally, it has very few negative side effects, doesn't make people crazy drunks (opposite actually), if vaped or eaten it has basically no negative side effects, etc.

Its absolutely ridiculous and pitiful at the same time that our country is has criminalized it so much.

Not arguing about whether or not it should be legal or not just wanted to know how it helps those conditions.

I want cops to stop using it as a crutch and start doing their job properly.

They'll leech as much life out of the marijuana industry as they can so they can avoid dealing with the big boy drug dealers.

I don't understand the cop angle. If they didn't have to go after Marijuana, they could focus on heroin, meth, and guns more.

I know those fights could use all the help they could get.

Not only is the illegal status of it mind boggling..but the schedule that they list it as is completely ridiculous.

It's an easy drug to make arrests with. Gets people locked up or put on probation. Private prisons benefit greatly from marijuana and the state profits from the shakedown known as probation.
