Per Sonny and Shea on 247, and rumors on Rivals are that he has verbally accepted.

I'm so excited, but I also am in an awkward spot. Grew up an LSU fan, and I hate to see LSU/my dad lose such a great DC. With their offensive problems, if they miss on the replacement, they could be in some trouble.

Mods on a certain site said all along A&M would not make an offer until they knew it would be accepted. That's the reason Muschamp never got one.

It is game day not at all thinking about defensive coordinator beyond today. If he goes LSU will bring someone in that can do the job. A&M is a lot more than a coach away from that defense being great. Need a few years recruiting too. They just give up too many points. Chavis is 58 and taking on a start up project if he leaves.

LSU should at least pay him $1 more than Muschump.

Whatever is really happening, he has A&M insiders now strongly hinting that Chavis is coming to A&M. But maybe its assymetrical warfare; I don't know.

I'm not worked up about this. He's very good. I don't think he's great. LSU gets so much defensive talent that many coordinators will line up and there are a lot of options out there. LSU won't skip a beat in my opinion.

400K and no state income tax is certainly enough reason for a DC to consider leaving.

But last I checked, we have scholly limits. Will Sumlin give up some of the schollys to get good defensive players?

If true, fire him immediatedly. Let a assistant run the defense today.

This feels like a good bump thread in about 24 hours.

I guess if any school needs that much defensive coaching, it's A&M
