re: Khiry > Ingram

I'm talking this year. I thought he looked better last year in more limited action. He had 4 100+ games this year, but one of those was 100 yards on 30 carries against Carolina for 3.3 ypc. They gave up 4.5 ypc this year. So that's not a great game for me. Actually, he averaged 7+ ypc against the Browns, so that was a very good game too even though they were dead last in rush D this year.
He did look good in the playoffs last year, but the timing of that fumbled killed the season. I don't really hold that against him because it happens. His body of work just hasn't been that great. I was incorrect on what I said earlier. His longest run in 4 years is 35 yards and that was in his first year. That's just not cutting it.

I should credit the O line for letting him rush for only 3 yards per carry? You serious?
But on the road against a very good front 7 according to you. Or does that only apply to the RB?
See how you immediately jumped to an excuse for him then balked at that being applied to the O-line.

Agree, but it's not a knock on him. He looked alot better this year and that's talking as a Saints fan first, Gump second. However, he is not cut out to be a 2 carry and out back and that's what the Saints want him to be. The Saints can get their production and spend a ton less on a late round back in the draft next year or pick up another older RB in FA that can prolong his career and probably cost much less.

Longest run determines a RB success? That's just asinine. Our offense passes for big plays.
Ingram has been a good back since he came back from the tie injury last year. He is as consistent as the o line will let him be.
People like yourself have hold his first couple years against him. In your eyes, he'll beer be good enough because of his first couple years.

It honestly goes more to the play calling for that particular game

Saying he's only as good as the O line plays isn't an excuse. It's reality.

Most good backs don't see FA at his age(25).

Ingram has been good for they last season and a half. Sorry you can't see that. Now if this thread had been titled KR production per $ > MI production per dollar, y'all might be on to something. But simply comparing who is better results in ingr being the guy.

I really think Ingram is one of those power backs that will have a rough three or four years then reel off a handful of 1,000 plus yard and double digit TD type seasons. Kind of like Thomas Jones, Ahman Green, Cedric Benson or Robert Smith. I've hated him as much as anyone on here, but I think we will be sorry if we don't resign him.

I didn't say that. But it sure as hell plays into it. The longer runs you have, the more you help your team and your ypc average. That should be obvious. He was a 1st-round pick. I'm sorry if your expectations are so low for a 1st-round NFL pick making millions.

He has been good at times. The rest is just an excuse. An elite back makes things happen even if he doesn't have the best O-line.

Huh? Quit drinking.
I'm looking at his whole body of work and it just is not that good. Quit making excuses for him. I'm not saying he's bad. He just hasn't panned out.

You've brought it up at least twice. Obviously you think it's a major factor.

Who claimed he's elite? The topic of this thread is KR being better than him, and that is false.

So you're doing exactly what I said you are. He's been good for the last year and a half, but since he was not great his first two years you will never acknowledge him being good now.

He's absolutely been better but still very replaceable.

Yes, I brought it up. I didn't say it defines a player. You want your RB to break big ones. Please name me a team or a RB that doesn't. And yes, it is a factor when talking about how successful a RB is. Again, longer runs help your team score and they boost the RBs ypc which is important in defining a player's success.
Nobody. And nobody would. That's a problem because he was the 1st-round pick four years ago. I said I didn't know if Khiry was better than him because I haven't seen Khiry enough. They seem comparable though. I assume Ingram is better since the coaches are playing him. We know what the Saints do on offense though. I don't see much changing, so I'm not sure it makes sense for us to keep him around.

So all first round picks or either elite or busts in your opinion?
Regardless, this has nothing to do with the thread. Ingram is a better back than Robinson.

Well, you expect you're 1st-round picks in the NFL to be elite . It doesn't mean they hold no value or that they're complete busts if they don't play at the level everyone expected. But there is a level of disappointment.
Posted on 12/28/14 at 10:07 pm to Big EZ Tiger
Expecting 32 elite players to enter the league is absurd. And again, you've completely gone off topic.
Posted on 12/28/14 at 10:25 pm to LNCHBOX
Guys in the top 5 are expected to be elite. 6-12ish are expected to be all pros. 13-24ish are expected to be pro bowlers(a couple of times maybe).
Very few first rounders meet those expectations.

Yeah, expecting 32 players that are paid millions to be elite four years after they were drafted is really crazy.
I know getting off topic never happens on a message board, so for that I am sorry.
Now, back to the topic, Khiry>Ingram. He has had a higher ypc average (with worse offensive lines) than Ingram had in his first two years in the league. He had a higer ypc average than him by over half a yard this year. There, you happy?
I'm messing with you.
