I don't think he was secretive about his beliefs while running for office. NYC has the mayor it wants and I think the turmoil is amusing.

I am done with those idiiots - The squandered all the good will I harbored for them after 9/11 and the Guliani years.
As far as I am concerned they can walk amongst gang violence every day while they look for the last honest cop to smear. Screw em.
