Certainly with the right coach. People called them dead before Ara arrived and repeated that same mistake in the 80s before Holtz arrived. Then Holtz got them winning big quickly.
Kelly won't get them there, however. They need a run first type coach.

The college landscape has changed since too much for Notre Dame was last dominant. Their admission standards are way too tough to get a consistent talent pipeline sustained. Also, they have no real recruiting presence in the south. You in order to sustain a dominant program today you will need a few guys that have no business even being in college, honestly

No, cable and satillete TV ended the advantages Notre Dame had over other college teams.

Brian Kelly is the best thing Notre Dame has going for it, right now.

Brian will probably head to the NFL next year. I can't imagine them getting a decent coach.

they use to be the only game on in town and everyone wanted to play there
plus that's when Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago were all rocking and growing
now all 3 are shitholes and the southern migration has begun and isn't ending. add that to any team is now on tv and kids don't care about the traditions anymore
so no

Not unti the low level academic athletes in.
This. As long as Notre Dame continues to hold academics in higher esteem than athletics they will not consistently be a powerhouse. Need to drop standards and/or start allowing redshirts. Most schools would be credited for doing such a good thing, but not Notre Dame.

I've got a handful of friends that went to Notre Dame. There was no way they were staying up there after school. That was 15 years ago. South Bend may have been nice at one time, but now it's gotta be a hell hole for some of the reasons you mentioned.
I remember thinking I wanted to go there when I was in 8th grade. Their PR game was on point in the 90's. NBC was a big part of that. But now, not so much.

If the Baylor Bears can be the best program in Texas, I'd say anything is possible.

You've called him out. Now, point out his grammatical errors.

They're a top 15 type program and thier performance on the field this past decade as suggested as much.
Multiple BCS game appearances.
National title game appearance. All Americans
They also had 8 players drafted last year. Only LSU had more.
They'll be very good next year with a favorable schedule so this thread will be kinda silly in hindsight.
Anyways, yeah top 15 type program and that's what they'll be for the foreseeable future

They still recruit very well, but the academic qualifications do limit then to some athletes but it's not that big of a deal, really
