Hahahha! What is it that she thinks she can contribute to a company for them to justify paying her a salary (150k/yr) that typically most Americans will never earn after working in a career their entire life. That just affirms her delusion. No offense to her character but she's clearly not living in reality.
But seriously-what is it that she's applying for? Like..does she know what most people in the real world, even in specialized careers like engineering, actually make?
Oh, I think there is a definite disconnect there. But she is moving to a bigger city, still living in ann arbor. and she thinks that will make the difference.
She wants to get into some sort of international consulting/finance. She is definitely qualified, she does speak 7 languages fluently.

She thinks she is worth about $150k, I tried to explain to her in November that you are worth whatever anyone is willing to pay you. She thinks someone will pay her that, she just hasn't met them yet.
Whatever you do, don't loan her any money. She has delusions that should have been resolved ten years ago.

Every generation that comes along is seen as lazy as balls by the generations that came before them. Go back to the days of the cavemen and I am sure you would find arguments over whether Ogg will finally amount to something.
The Millenials will do OK when it is their turn to shine I'm sure. They will, however, start off way in the fricking hole when it comes to servicing their massive student debt. Major purchases like homes and new cars will get put off as will things like settling down and starting a family.
So even though they may be busting their butts trying to make ends meet they'll seem like slackers because they are still living in the basement or haven't gotten married or what have you.

Cheers, we are kindred spirits. I spend WAY below what we make. If you saw me price comparing my online carts across the net you would think I was broke. But I work hard for my money, as does my husband. I prefer living below my means, I don't have to ever stress about the state of my financial accounts. One of buddies, who I adore, stresses me out just walking into her house. There's always a huge new purchase and her and her husband's salary are both public record, aka teachers. And they spend way more than folks who make, say, 4-5 times more than them.

Well that sounds like a promising career for such a smart person.
Except she will get to start as an assistant (if that lucky) to the person who she wants to be one day. Get her a helmet. The fall into reality will be rough.

I need a more definitive explanation as to why baby boomers suck so bad and have done such a fantastic job of screwing this country for decades to come. I've read articles here and there, but it was biased towards one particular sub topic of this subject. Someone please spit some knowledge. TIA

Because you old bastards didn't plan for your retirement, built up a lot of debt, and now can't leave the workforce.
Well some planned well for retirement they just didn't factor in having to support their 20 something son or daughter! With my friends, all of them with offspring 24-30 of age, are having to support or at least partially support their sons/daughters. Some are subsidizing a life style for their kids but others are helping them simply make ends meet.

Because they want to start at the top of the job market while covered in tattoos, piercings, not being able to pass drug tests, all the while thinking they are hip and will change the world with their sit-ins, etc.?

See this all the time. I would say almost half my friends still get money from their parents (rent, cell phone or insurance paid for) and I'm 28. I will be investing thousands of dollars into my child's college tuition and he will have to make the decision whether to invest it wisely (well paying major) or unwisely (philosophy/mass com/psychology, etc.). I will probably help them out with some bills for about 6 months after college but no longer than that, I don't care if I'm a multimillionaire. They will have to either sink or swim after that.

Being at the very, very beginning of the millennial generation, there are a few reasons for that.
1) Some people are just lazy, especially the ones raised by hippy parents.
2) Boomers aren't retiring. Trust me on this. I see it in my field all the time. They didn't save for decades, spent all they had, and now they are in their mid to late 60s with very little money saved. Some may have a basic pension, but when companies moved away from pensions 20 years ago, they never compensated for that by saving more money.
3) College costs are insane. One reason for that is boomers not wanting to pay taxes, so, college funding gets cut, which means tuition has to rise to make up the difference.
4) Boomers shipped overseas a lot of the good middle class jobs that didn't require a high education. Why? Evil unions. Those same evil unions that many of the boomers started off in, before they worked their way to management.

There has to be some other issues with her to not find a job. Sounds like my nephew. Very smart kid. No college degree. Just wanted to hang out and become a teenager for life. Worked as a waiter until he was 35. No wife. No kids.
Then he found a job through his hobby. Video. Got a job with Keith Urban. Did work on the movie "Oh God, Where Art Thou". Doing very well now with his own Country/Western studio.
He was an avowed Marxist all his life. Then when he started earning big money at 45 he changed his philosophy when he discovered something called INCOME TAX.
Based on the number of personal anecdotes you have told on this board, you either have about 78 combined nieces, nephews and cousins or are full of shite.

Capitalism has been bashed to hell and the welfare state has been swept into the role of the supposed "backbone" of our society.

Did I do it right?
well that and the fact that most of you are incapable of even the most menial tasks, required of a minimum wage job, there is that, too.
