Apparently the Heisman snub has been around since the award's inception

I came across this link today, while looking at facebook. I had no idea that some of the winners, of the most prestigious award sports, posted such horrible numbers, during their Heisman campaign. Some of these are just head scratchers.

Looks like Notre Dame has been screwing people out of Heismans for years.

Thought for sure Peyton would be on here.

I don't think Tim Brown snubbed the Syracuse QB at all IMO.
Brown was an electric player. Sure, those numbers look average, but look at the era and offense in which he played. I don't think anybody can argue Tim Brown wasn't the best player in CFB that year.

I want to know why Melvin Gordon wasn't thought to have a chance. He rushed for the 4th-most yards in FBS history (and still has 1 game left to break the record). He broke the single-game rushing record in only 3 quarters. And his 7.6 yards per carry for his career is the most in FBS history.
He had a record-setting, monster season.

It's because the Heisman is a complete shame. It isn't what it claims to be, "The best player in college football."
Sweet so how many offensive lineman have won?
I put much more stock in the individual position awards. I think those mean more.

Lol, this was the thing that jumped out at me too.

I agree about Gordon! Wisky had no passing game to think of and he still ran free!

The problem with that argument is that it compares apples to oranges. Many players in FBS history played in only 10 or 11 games and bowl games didn't count. Gordon will get to play in 14. By way of example, Barry Sanders averaged 238.9 ypg in 1988.

Unfortunately for him, that record stood precisely one week until Samaje Perine went for 427 yards in a 41-7 win over Kansas. For the record Perine, had precisely two carries in the fourth quarter of that one (he did use 9 more carries in his game, though). Say what you want, the point isn't to compare them, it just took the luster off of his accomplishment.

Dude is a beast. The problem is that things kept nerfing his hype. Breaks the record, it falls the next week. Drags Wisconsin to prosperity, gets disciplined by Meyer.

Look how many of those snubs were as a result of the media sobbing Notre Dame's knob.

It's a QB award now.
Gordon has had a great year. But his single game record lasted a week, and his chances of getting the season record (in 14 games) are slim. He should get to 3rd, but since he's already decided to enter the draft who knows how much effort he'll give in the bowl game.

It was weird though... it's like the media treated it like a foregone conclusion that Mariota was going to win and there were no others who were even really in the conversation.

Reminds me of this stat line getting in Canton.

The Heisman is a joke.....it NOW goes to the best player on the best team. I would have had no problem with any of the 3 winning the award.
It also proves the bias that has been part of ND football from the beginning.

Gordon got to 2000 in fewer carries than anyone in history.

1995 was not a snub. They basically even admit as much in the writing here. Eddie had over 1900 yards. I get that people think Frazier should have won but "snub?"

Looking at both his stats and his team's record, Hornung winning it was ridiculous.
