Pig report for Washington Parish area

Got a lead on 90 acres in the Mt. Hermon area that I can hunt. Went and took a real quick look at it (spent less than an hour just walking the roads) and found a lot of hog sign. Anybody hunt in / around that area? How bad are the hogs? I mainly hunt in Mississippi about 15 miles northwest of that area and we don't have hogs.

I have some property a little NE of Franklinton, real close to Thomas. Basically due east of Mount Hermon and about the same distance off of HWY 25. There has NEVER been hogs there. My FIL grew up there as did his parents. Two years ago we heard someone let a few go for personal hunting. We had a few invade our property but we killed the sow and most of her piglets and haven't seen one since. They may still be around but i think us and the locals got them before it was too bad, i hope.

Well this place has em! Was curious how bad / widespread they are in that area before I spend much time trying to hunt it if all I'm gonna see is hogs

There are pigs in the area. They're not an epidemic like some other places, but they're definitely there. It's more of a some people have em, some people don't kind of thing. We leased 550 acres up there for years and never had pigs. My friend leased some property the year we let ours go not a mile down 38 from us and he was torn up with them.

I know they have them pretty bad, depending on the area. A couple years ago wenl needed a pig for a company thing and got 2 within an hour from someone's lease. If you don't want to hunt to deal with them let me know, I'd love to go out there and get some. Email is username@gmail

There weren't any pigs at the LSU forestry camp West of Bogalusa on 10. I heard reports of a lot of turkeys running around though

True that. I'd easily agree to a strict hogs-only hunting agreement for that.

Don't worry. They are there.

I've been in a hunting club in Mount Hermon my whole life. I've killed a few hogs over the years but I wouldn't say they are common. I've only seen a handful over the last few yeara

How's the deer hunting up there? This wouldn't be my main hunting area but a spot I can go from time to time for a change of scenery

Plenty of hogs back towards the river in Angie, deer are plenty with few true wall hangers, deer right now seem to only be hitting the food plots at night

If you need help eliminating a few pigs, let me know seapickle09@gmail.com

Depending on your knowledge of hog sign, if you truly saw "a lot of sign", then you have your answer.

Im sure they are still in the area but its been 6-8 months since we have seen them and i have cameras out pretty much year round. When they were there, they were hitting my food plots religiously. I havent even seen there signs lately

Thats just how it is around there. I never see anything in the mornings. I dont hunt before 8am anymore. Once dark hits, they are like vampires swarming in the food plots until 3-4am. I catch a few mid-morning but not often.

We found one spot in a low lying area along the edge of one of the roads that they had turned up what I would estimate to be about 500+ sq ft of ground . Looked like you had gone in there with a plow!!

i bought some land just south of there in opelousas. no sign of them there just yet but have heard that they are making their way down I49. so it doesn't surprise me that Washington would have a lot of them

Not bad. You won't see many monster bucks but you will have very few hunts where you don't see a thing

The place is in Mount Hermon La (Washington Parish). Not Washington La! Nowhere near Opelousas!

Deer hunted near Mt. Hermon for 4 years. Saw some sign but never saw a hog.
