I built a FreeNAS box last year that works well. Cox blocks the ports that FreeNAS uses for the cloud service, and I was never able to get the port forwarding to work correctly, so I haven't really been able to utilize that part yet.
I use it mainly as a media server for the house and Time Machine backup
