CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland police officer fatally shot Tamir Rice immediately after leaving his moving patrol car while his partner stayed at the wheel, surveillance video shows.
The video showed Wednesday by police captures the Saturday afternoon shooting at a West Side recreation center in which 12-year-old Rice was shot.
The video contains no audio.
A rookie officer pulled the trigger, said Jeffrey Follmer, president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association.
Police were sent to the Cudell Recreation Center at Detroit Avenue and West Boulevard about 3:30 p.m. when someone called 9-1-1 to report a "guy with a gun pointing it at people."
The caller told dispatchers twice that the gun was "probably fake," but that detail was not relayed to the responding officers, Follmer said.
This is a developing story.

Did you miss where the kid approached him and reached in his waist band and pulled out the toy gun?

that video looks pretty damn bad. He just opened the door and dropped the kid like a sack of potatoes.

The video is shite, but it's pretty fricked up. Almost like a drive by. "There's that guy holding the gun. Shoot him!"
Darwinism at work, holding a fake gun when the cops pull up. But they certainly didn't waste any time.

Why the frick would they drive up that close to him? He's just sitting in the park. Why not proceed with caution and exit the vehicle at a safer distance. Completely avoidable.

Why did they pull up so close? Stupid cops.

That cop had his mind made up before her even got there.
What kind of dumbass drives right up to someone with an alleged gun to put themselves in a situation where they instantly have to shoot someone from a few feet away.
DUMB. AS. frick. All parties involved.
But you expect that from a child. That shouldnt be how our trained professionals with weapons act.

Not in the mood to watch a child get shot, but thanks.

Yeah that was horrible. That cop needs to go to jail for that. Horrible decisions to drive right up on him. What were they thinking?

Saw that. Probably saw him approaching the vehicle before they stopped and thought I'll draw on him to stop. Didn't expect him to reach and nerves made him fire.
I won't pretend to know the first thing about procedure, but they seemed to rush in there like he was a visible threat.

Ok, justice was clearly delivered in Ferguson but this killing was completely unnecessary. How about parking at a distance and giving the kid a fair warning?

Hard to say anything here. This is about as shitty a situation as they come. This is actually a kid that was being stupid. I see what the cop saw, him going underneath his sweatshirt grabbing at something. I'm sure the cop thought he was trying to pull a gun out on him, especially with him walking right to him. Sad part is the kid was probably scared and thought going towards them would show he wasn't running. Also was probably trying to hide the bb gun so they wouldn't see it. I know what this 12 year old did was idiotic and that the cop appears justified in suspecting he was drawing a weapon, but it just sucks. I'm sure it will be protested as well because white cop / black male dead. Think this one is truly just an accident resulting from a kid showing poor judgement in what game he wanted to play that day.

I was surprised when the cop car came in the screen. I was expecting it to pull up in a parking space not just truck into the park and then get out and cap the kid.

The kid lifted his shirt and was reaching for the gun. It doesn't look worse than Ferguson at all.
