If anyone thinks this team is going to win 25 games, you're nuts. We have no depth. Our only big guy is Mickey and we lose if he sucks. As we did tonight.
We just aren't ready for a run. This season begins our quest for a title. We win 15-18 games and probably won't be playing too deep into March.

I believe we let JJ stay this year unless it gets really ugly but next year, unless we make the tourney, hes on the hot seat cause with our players we can beat anyone.

well this is embarrassing. LSU athletics is not at its best right now

If we cant beat Illinois State/Weber State...we're in for a long season.

Get out of here with that bullshite. People can't rant and rave about jones recruiting ability then blame the failure of the players he recruited on the previous coach anymore when there isn't a single player from the previous coach on the roster.
Maybe it takes time for a basketball ball team to come together? Just look at the Cleveland Cavaliers right now. They've got the best player in the league, the second best PF, the best young PG, and a bench full of experienced role players and are still struggling to stay .500. Once again, team has to grow more before we crucify Jones. If we are having the same issues 20 games in, then the criticism is deserved.

Jones didnt commit the foul you dumb cocksucker
Players should know exactly what to do in those situations.
Time and score, and end of game situations, should be practiced over and over and over again.
That is bad coaching and/or bad discipline.
Either way, a reflection of our overall identity, which comes from the coach.

quote:Exactly!! I think they're deferring to martin and Mickey we need define their roles and we need for our bigs to rotate on defense !! And let Mussellman have some input!!
nailed it. Neither of those guys look comfortable right now. I don't know what the deal is. Gray hurt us a lot tonight. Stupid turnovers, late passes, and passed on some easy layups

Where is all the talent. I don't see it. Mickey and Martin are good, but not great. And everybody else is just GUYS.

How many days till baseball? Football sucks and it looks like basketball is going to be disappointing again.

Gray and Hornsby are good scorers, they are better than Stringer/Hickey.

quote:agreed. There is no reason for this to be a shitty season with our talent. If JJ can't win with this roster then we seriously have to question him in the long run. The good news is it is extremely early and the kinks can be worked out. The bad news is the Sec is complete and utter garbage so any loss in conference outside of uf, uk is seen as terrible. So the ooc has a razor thin margin and we already blew a game.

Was this your first LSU basketball game?

If he cant win this year what makes you think next will be any different if we lose Martin and Mickey? Sure we have Simmons but have no one else even committed right now. Even if we got Blakeney then we're just "young" again next year with 2 freshmen starting.
If you want to recruit NBA players you cant expect them to stay 3 or 4 years, they are going to leave after 1 or 2 generally. If he cant put together a winning team with this formula then his formula needs to change.

Johnny Jones can recriut good players but has done absolutely nothing with them when they're here.
This team struggles in the fundamental aspects of the game that lead to winning programs. Horrible shot selection/situational awareness, relatively little defensive execution, poor FTs. This isn't anything new under Jones if you'd paid attention over the last three years. Unless that improves, they are going to struggle to win away from home.
Last year's team was far too talented to finish .500 in a weak SEC. So far this year it looks like Jones is taking a equally as talented (perhaps more) team in that same direction.

Wins over Umass and @ WVU can go a long way to erasing this but this was an early kick in the gut.

Oh I see. Because the talent gap between any 2 teams in the nba is very comparable to the talent gap between Lsu and old dominion. It makes perfect sense now.
How long have all those new faces at duke and Kentucky taken to come together? Surely they must be struggling because none of those guys have really played together before, right?

Its just hard to believe some of you keep saying this team is talented... After our best two we're average and after our best 4 we're horrible

Because we are talented, we are just poorly coached.
We have 2 NBA forwards on this team, a guy who averaged 15 ppg already on the D1 level and a guy who AVERAGED 35ppg in JUCO last season.
Let that sink in.
The talent is here, the coaching still sucks.
