Not as good as was hoped with the aluminum body, but still not too shabby. If the 2.7L EcoBoost doesn't have any reported issues by next summer, I may pull the trigger on it. Otherwise will look at the 3.5L EcoBoost.

Bought the same as my hemi

That really isn't a 700 pound difference. Do like the way the truck looks and the possibility of turned up turbos though. Motortrend released that the 3.5 would do 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. Pretty damn impressive for a stock pickup truck.

LOL at people who swore the 2.7 would get 28+.

I just don't see how a 2.7L engine could have any arse at all in a truck. Give me a v8 anyday...it's 4 fricking MPG difference. Not a big deal

What's the point of the 2.7 ecoboost in the 4x4? It gets basically the exact same mpg as the 4x4 3.5 ecoboost.

Until they add an 8 speed tranny it's going to remain mediocre.

When are they expected to arrive @ dealerships?

Started shipping end of this week so within a week to 10 days I'm guessing. Only one plant is tooled to make them and the other plant will be re-tooled over the Christmas holidays.

It's twin turbo 2.7L making more power than 90% of GM 1500's pre-2007. Facts are facts, don't get caught up in the size of an engine these days.

Can't believe I'm going to say this, but if I was buying new I would buy the Ram. And I drive a 2012 EcoBoost.

The Ram eco diesel numbers are impressive, but what about long term maintenance costs of a Diesel engine and the fact that you pay 30-40 cents more per gallon? Is it really that much more impressive?

I would buy the Hemi over the Eco Diesel

Let's compare the F150 with the 2.7 and 6 speed to the Ram with the diesel and 8 speed. Here is the math. Using the current national average price of fuel according to the government (LINK ) of unleaded regular @ $2.894 and diesel @ $3.661 and calculating the price of fuel to drive 100 miles the cost are F150= $11.13 and Ram=$13.08. Now if you factor in the extra $4,000 for the diesel engine amortized over 100,000 miles the Ram cost moves up to $17.08 for 100 miles. If you use 200,000 miles then it is still $15.08. So far 500lbs more max towing capacity over 200,000 miles the customer pays (drum roll) $3900 MORE for fuel plus $4000 for the engine. Now when Ford plugs in the new 10 speed next year the difference will be even greater. I trust that I still know how to use a spreadsheet.
