A confirmation of what I've been saying about Putin from an American from Russia

A recently naturalized American citizen who grew up in Russia has written an excellent article on what Putin has been doing from the typical Russian's viewpoint. It pretty much coincides with what I've been posting on this board about Putin.
Because Putin controls the media, Russians get a very distorted account of Russia's invasion of Crimea and Ukraine.

Interesting perspective, Russian. I followed the other thread and found it enlightening. Thanks

The true colors of this new cold war came to light recently. In August 2008, according to Henry Paulson, the US Treasury secretary at the time, "top level" Russian officials approached the Chinese during the Olympics in Beijing and proposed "that together they might sell big chunks of their GSE [Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac] holdings to force the US to use its emergency authorities to prop up these companies."
This incident took place just weeks before the collapse of Lehman Brothers. The US economy was inches from revisiting the Stone Age. The proposed Russian-Chinese maneuver could have made such an outcome more likely. The Federal Reserve would have had to step in and buy Fannie's and Freddie's debt, and the dollar would have taken a dive, worsening the plunge in the US economy. Our friend Putin wanted to bring the US economy down without firing a single shot, just as he annexed Crimea from Ukraine.
If actually true...

That's almost like here in the U.S. - whether you watch Fox News or anything else, you get a wildly distorted view of the country in which we live. But, at least we get to choose which one (or ones) we watch and can go back and forth to try to make some sense of it.

I heard a guest speaker at church once say that all the Russians and/or Chinese needed to do to destroy the country was to fly over in a helicopter and drop credit cards all over the nation.
That's genius.

i think we also should take into account the anti-Russian propaganda we enjoy here in the US. Different issue, I know.

Meh, Obama says Russian isn't a threat.

I actually prefer Fox News and defend their reporting on straight news all the time. You do recognize that their commentators, other than Beckel, Williams and Gutfeld are hard right, to a fault, and that does give the viewer a distorted view of things, don't you?

I shite smarter than you.

So true........
I try to watch all of them when I do watch the news on TV, but even then it's gets tough to watch sometimes. I'm finding out it depends on the host themselves and if the show has a chance for fair debate. If a show is totally bias, I'm gone for good. Only one news show ever that got me back watching was Hanity. His show actually became watchable when Hanity went with groups that had 10-15 from both sides present debated issues. I tend to be drawn to news shows that have both sides present, and interviewers who actually asked tough questions. Softball questions concerning important news bother me the most, they're like fingernails on a chalkboard for me.

This article reeks of propaganda also. I'm sure the real truth lies somewhere in between the two propagandists (US and Russia). To say the US media doesn't keep its citizens in the dark with half truths and outright lies is comical.

You're so naive. You've led a sheltered life.
