Les Lets the OC Run the Offense

I have never agreed with people that Les runs his offense, and his offense only.
Mostly because I have a better memory than a goldfish.
So i actually went back and watched a Crowton game.
And it was nothing like what we have run the last for years.
We ran a ton of plays out of the shotgun, a ton of plays out of the pistol. Very few under center, and the I form was almost none existent.
But hey why actually remember things.

I've always wondered why people think this. I've never seen Les with a play chart in his hand.

That guy honestly must have never watched a game before.

I watch every game. I could find a lot of pictures of him without one.
I just want to know if there is truth to this Rant mantra that Miles calls the plays.

He lets the OC call them.
And he lets the OC run his own offense.
whenever our offense isn't great, people scream about going to the other other.

loves the pistol and some bubble screen.

i don't think he CALLS a play in that often, if ever...but he definitely has input on our gameplans and in-game philosophy
and under his tenure, we have done different things. jimbo ran (a muted miles version of) jimbo's pro style offense
then he wanted to go modern spread/spread option, and hired a spread guy. 2008 was a bit much for j lee. the spread option was inconsistent with JJ and never took hold, i believe b/c of 2008
2011 was a blessing but a curse in terms of offense. and we've basically run that same style since. even 2013 wasn't a magical year when you look at it in terms of where our offense ranked (it was like 36th in the country iirc)

That bubble screen was usually money.
Assuming it wasn't a muddy field with no timeouts with less than a minute to play.

I think people don't get that Cam has a new offense too, but it has the same formation.
I really a commontator breaking down a play really early in the season in 2013. NA dh showed how the routes the receivers ran open up another receiver, and i thought "we probably never had anything that thought out since 2007"
Is it complicated, yeah, but when you can execute it, it runs well, eats clock, keeps the defense fresh, and moves the ball.
those HUNH offense don't keep defenses fresh.

neither does our 3 and out offense
the point about 2013 is taht we had a super elite QB, RB, and WR plus a great OL....and we were still in the mid-30s

i don't think i saw the ravens rely on i-form 2 TE or twins on like 66-70% of plays
just like how crowton basically never ran i-form until he got to LSU, but used it heavily while here (even in your link...go look)
and the HUNH and/or spread option offenses have won more titles than the shite LSU has run lately. you have to go back to 2002 to find an offense like that win a title
the champs in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2013 used a spread option/pistol offense with mobile QBs out of the shotgun
lots of the teams who made the final game and lost ran a spread or spread option offense, too.
everyone else is either Bama or LSU

People think Les won't throw it. When we have a QB worth half a crap he throws it around a good bit. Now a fair criticism could be that cam and Les haven't gotten Jennings ready to be at least competent, but to say Les refuses to throw the ball is just emotional talk and not fact.

Why do yall say mid 30's is a bad place to be? A typical LSU defense with a mid 30's offense is a serious title contender. Bama has been the dominant program the last half decade. How many time did they have the #1 offense?

we had a good offense. mid 30's is good when other teams are playing 49-43 games 43 is great, but they lost.

We didn't last year

I looked, then i made this thread, thats the point. We rarely used the I-form at all.

This is probably in the top 5 of worst possible games you could have chosen to defend miles on something.

FSU is as pro style as it gets.

I am saying he lets the OC run the offense.
Only game i could find full length on youtube from 2009, and the offense looks significantly different.
I think people forget that.
